I have seen some Mobo's feature an on board HDMI port these days. What is the function of these ports actually..??

Are the boards with HDMI ports worth the money....???

they function the way they were supposed to function
connect it to a HDMI monitor u get both sound and video from 1 cable but dont think onboard graphics is good for gaming
and its value for money depends on what u use ur pc for
i dont use HDMI so its no good for me....

You don't. You'll have a DVI connector on your 9600GT. (You can use a DVI-HDMI converter if your card supports it and if want a HDMI connection).

Some people want HDMI connection on their motherboard so that they can use it in an HTPC setup.
