I just got my new Seagate Green 2TB ST2000DL003 drive today and plugged it in to check if everything's right.

When HDTune starts, it shows no errors at all and everything's fine. But after a min when it updates, it shows tons of errors. Also a few min later, it shows ridiculously high temperatures of 120C. :S Has anyone else has faced such an issue with HDTune 4.60?

Crystaldisk info and Smartfan show no errors at all. I guess I don't have to worry much since Crystaldisk info shows fine and HDTune readings are way too weird. Also I haven't faced any issue till yet. This drive is crazy fast for a 5900rpm drive. It's faster than my Seagate 1TB 7200.12 and WD 6400AAKS. :P Plus it runs really cool too. I guess 3 platters of 667gb is working great for Seagate here. :D

Btw, I have connected this to a SATA 6gbps port since it is a SATA 6gbps drive. That may have something to do with the weird readings for HDTune, though not sure why that would be the case.

Have not seen those issues, but yes, the drive is quite fast, even on a 3Gbps port. Plus i get very low temps, compared to the other drives.

i guess all those errors found when the HDD was in power saving mode.

have noticed it if i dont have to access the drive for some tim then the access to the files on that 2TB takes a little bit of time (initally).

once when it wakes up from the power down it is as fast as any other drive .

just sharing my experiences.

so all those errors might be attributed to the waking up of the drive.

try doing the tests when the drive has been made active initially.

Yes I still do get that error in HDTune, but only after it updates in 60 sec as mentioned in my first post.

I did an error scan in HDTune itself and no errors were found. Performed extended tests in Smartfan and no problems there too.

Yup, it could be something to do with my motherboard. I had really crazy readings of CPU voltage and other voltages in CPU-Z and couple other softwares.

I need to RMA my WD6400AKS and will be transferring all the data to this drive. I just hope I don't end up losing all that data before I receive my replacement. :fear:

Hdtune has these issues.... Even my old wd500aakx used to show weird readings

^ Are you on the latest BIOS? Sometime older BIOS gives these kind of issues

Yes mate, I'm on the latest BIOS. I had created a thread about it. It was because the softwares apparently hadn't updated for my motherboard. The latest version of AIDA64 showed all readings correctly. Dunno the current situation since I haven't checked if there is a newer version out.

This could be true all the more for HDTune since 4.60 was released over a year ago.

If you're asking about the hard drive, it is running the latest CC32 firmware. :P
