Guys, please help me with your advise. I am pretty much fed up with the stock music player of my 8 month old Brio. It displays only 8 letters of a song name which is super irritating.

Budget : 10-15k

Features I need :

  1. usb drive support is important.
  2. full folder and song names should be displayed simultaneously.
  3. HU should be able to display ID3 information and Album Art from a mp3 file.
  4. Bluetooth : not compulsory but desirable
  5. It would be lovely if the HU can support the steering mounted controls of Brio.

The thing is I do not want to install an amp or new speakers. Stock ones are just fine for now.

My local car vendor has suggested Blaupunkt Los Angeles 500.

It has all the features I need and will cost 18.7k + 650 bucks for frame ring.
But my vendor said that my stock speakers will not sound good with this HU and I will have to upgrade the speakers as well. He has suggested Harman Infinity reference speakers for 5k.

My query is : is there a cheaper alternative for my above mentioned requirements.
For now I just want to change the HU and would prefer not to upgrade the speakers.

have a look at the JVC KW 700 BT. Has everything and a hell lot more features for the price.
It costed me about 13 k last year and it is one of the best accessories i have bought for my car.

Do you look at your head unit while you are driving or do you look at the road? To be honest the stock head unit in the brio sounds just fine to my ears even after almost two years of use.

Also just to add, I'm really very fussy about the quality of audio I listen to - my primary home audio system probably costs more than a brio :P.

Unless you are doing a full scale upgrade including amps, speakers etc, just replacing the head unit makes zero sense.

Also entry level JBLs and Infinity speakers sound extremely bright - not recommended.

I also own a brio s and when i bought it i just added a subwoofer to the stock audio setup .
The vendor told me too that i would be needing better speakers but i feel the stock speakers on brio are quite good

My primary requirement was to be able to see the song name and details but I don't want to shell out 20k'ish for it.
What Chaos said makes sense. While driving, ones eyes are on the road so even if I change the HUD i'd hardly look at it while negotiating the busy traffic. Rest of the setup is fine as is, so no upgrades in the near future.

Thanks to all who replied :)
