Headphone recommendation

Hi guys. I'm looking for a closed supra-aural headphone is the range of Rs4000-Rs8000. I'm going to buy an audiophile quality cans for the first time. I wanted a closed cans because I do not want to disturb others.

I listen to a variety of songs - rock, r&b, classical.

My current in-ear phone produces static sound when it is plugged into a desktop. However, no static noise is produced when it is plugged into an mp3 player or to a laptop. Does supra-aural headphone gives static sound too?

the static sound is there because of the inferior software mixing. try muting all the input and output mixers... cd , aux , even wave out. But front , master volume etc remain on. is there still static? if yes , try muting everything , and unmute one by one until you find out the cause. if is master volume , or front , then you need to get a better soundcard. else , if the static is from cd /aux/ mic in etc, you just need to keep the same muted unless you're using it. If it comes only from Wave , then you ought to try keeping wave muted as well, and using kernel streaming in foobar

do tell what your current sound card is . I used to get static on my EP 630's when i used them on onboards. kernel streaming cured it :)

Yep man, Open air cans are always better than closed cans in sound quality, for the same price. If open air cans are OK with you, look no further than the Audio Technica AD700. Excellent for Audio, music and gaming.

would recommend goldring dr150 .....however i dont think u can ship it to india...can get from us or uk at $125...i dont listen to classical(unless u call dj cheb as classical :D)...for r&b and rock it will be good...

goldring has got good bass....just right if u ask me...but if u want more of it u can buy equation audio rp10...plus they have more soundstage

^^meant rp22x :0.......also there is rp21 with lsser bass(reltive o 22x)....both are closed

dont think the goldring leaks too much sound unless u listen too loud...i can recheck and confirm on that later....it is open...

Thanks for the input. I am reluctant to buy from overseas as it would be a hassle in case the headphone needs repairing. I am more inclined towards sennheisers or bose. I've been to bose showrooms in bangalore and tested their headphones. I think they are overpriced. Anyway, any idea where I can get sennheiser hd 25-I headphone in bangalore?

You may see the following link-
IT-Depot

Sennheisers are sold at the apple store in forum mall. Way way overpriced though. Anything below an HD600 is a compromise as well.

I went to apple store at forum mall. They only have one sennheiser model, that is sennheiser px250. When I asked the salesman about HD series headphones, he just shake his head.

It's difficult to find sennheiser cans in bangalore. All I see are phillips and sony the most. The sennheisers hd497 that I found in M store are overpriced.

Looks like my best bet now is to buy online anyway. Any idea which shop I can send to if the headphone needs repairing?

Goto Esteem Mall after the hebbal flyover, theres a shop on the ground floor, extreme left.. its small but hes got a few sennheiser pieces.... the shop is located at one of the entrances/exits on the ground floor.. kinda overpriced..
anyways

Cheers!

EDIT: I did see a HD 555 there a month ago..

I went to Modern World for sennheiser hd25-I price quotation. They do not have it in their stock so they called sennheiser first. I was shocked to hear that they are selling sennheiser hd25 at R.s 20850! I might as well get a bose quite comfort at that price.

Why is it the price extremely inflated?
