Hi Guys,

I need a headphone. This will be primarily be used for gaming and occasional music. Prefer on ear design.

Don't want to invest much into this as i have a plan for a good headphone in a month or two.

Prefer to get it in a week's time.

Edit: Don't mind stretching the budget if i can get something really good for a little bit more $$. :P

TIA :)

P.S. Been a while since i posted anything over here :(

Re: Headphone suggestions required | Budget -3k

Is potability an issue ?

Is it going to be used with surround sound card ?

If h answers are no and yes ...get the Roccat kave, 5.1 surround headset (over the ear), great for movies and gaming ( music as well). it looks great as well.

costs 6K though ....a lot above your budget but, gaming with a surround headset is a lot better than gaming on a stereo setup.

IF not get the JVC RX700 at around 2.8 from globaleasybuy ..ver good for gaming as well as music.

both are huge headphones though, anything but portable.

Re: Headphone suggestions required | Budget -3k

^I generally find the on ear headphones much comfortable. As i said, i am not really interested spend too much on these pairs.

Re: Headphone suggestions required | Budget -3k

Bayerdynamic DT235 @ 2759 shipped form amarbir really good reviews and on the ear!

me i can't go on ear for even 15 minutes!( ears like an elephant )

Re: Headphone suggestions required | Budget -3k

^DT 235 looks good and fits my need. How much does it cost? Any other choice ?

I miss my MS1 :(

Re: Headphone suggestions required | Budget -3k

hail hitler ,

take it lightly lol .well saiyan i suggest you look at hd202 ,the ovann t99 i sell "its gaming grade" And the beyer dynamic dt235 .The JVC HA-Rx700 i have seen is a great choice also .

Re: Headphone suggestions required | Budget -3k

Can't really think of something really good under 3k other than the RX700 but those are not on ear and not very comfortable as well. There's Koss porta pro, Sennheiser PMX 100 which sound amazing but not the best for gaming needs. If you plan to buy better cans in a few months why not put this moolah into it and get something really awesome at that time or maybe now if you have the funds :P . Hint- Audio Technica AD700 or M50 ! :D

Re: Headphone suggestions required | Budget -3k

Faheem, i don't mind getting the M50 now, but are they okay for gaming :P ?

So far i had owned the Sennheiser HD457 and Allesandro MS1, used for gaming and music respectively. So don't want to downgrade over here. Can compromise on the gaming bit though.

So what options now ?

I am not a bass head btw.

Errr if you are buying this purely/mainly for gaming purposes the AD700 will be a much better option due to its exceptional soundstage /positional audio but if your usage is equally divided between gaming / music or is more of music , the M50 might be a better option. SQ I personally find both of them on par its just the difference in sound signature.

AD700-

exceptional soundstage due to open design. Very comfortable and super lightweight helps in ultra long sessions. (also feels a little flimsy so could be more prone to damage if dropped).

SQ - Very natural and detailed midrange + treble. By far of of the best midrange and treble detailing Ive come across in a headphone under 100$. The bass is light in quantity and has only a subtle impact overall. The bass is slightly less than your ex- MS1 as well to give you an idea. Deep sub-bass is almost absent.

M50s-

closed , portable but very comfortable for closed headphone standards .Construction and build quality is better than the AD700 .

SQ - Due to the closed nature the soundstage isn't as good as AD700 but the overall SQ is almost on par. The sound is overall more balanced - the bass is there.. lot more than the AD700 infact .Bass is good enough to give you those nice thump and impacts once in a while . The midrange is slightly warm and natural .The treble detailing is also very smooth and doesn't have any hint of sibilance. By smooth treble mean that the treble on the AD700 sounds brighter in comparison to the M50.

Hope this helps you make your decision easy . You wont go wrong with either of these. If you dont care much for bass , go with AD700 or else the M50 :).

Re: Headphone suggestions required | Budget -3k

^Thanks dude. I'll decide b/w these two tonight. what are local options of getting the ad700 ? M50 i think mediahome is selling.

I'd go with the M50 too. A friend of mine who uses spectacles couldn't keep them on while using the headphones though, they clamp down on your head a bit................ not so much that its uncomfortable but he felt the pressure might be a bit too much on his glasses. So if you use glasses too then you might want to read up on them a bit more to make sure its alright for you.

AD 700 not available in Pristine .

M50 in stock for 8K.

M50 available in GEB for 6.3K.

+1 to the AD700. Not a bass-head here, but been loving the cans ever since I've been using them over the past 4~5 months. Been using it for prolonged gaming hours and watching movies. Love my pair. :D

Earlier Pristine Note guy didn't store AD700 but recently when I paid a visit to his store to test some of his new inventor (M50) and to try out the AKG702 for the Nth time (needless to say I am in love with them and can't afford it :() , I found a few boxes of AD700 as well. So he might have it now.

***Sorry for OT***

Howz Denon D1001 compared to AD-700/M50?

The D1001 are more bass oriented so maybe more suitable for the Electronica type listeners .Not very sure but they fall in the same category as M50,AD700 but different sound signature. You will have to do some reading on head-fi and get opinions of peope who own both , to get more info.

I love the AD700 as well .Infact I liked them so much that I might invest in an AD700/M50 for classical / relaxed listening in future when I have lot of moolah to spare  .
