Hey guys, posting this on behalf of a friend..
I need to know which is the best Headphone to get under 2k..

Ive been looking at the Philips SHP8500..
but have no idea about how it sounds, so wanted a second opinion..

I need them for music, in which sound quality is preferred over bass..
ill drive them through my nokia 5530XM..
(will it run through my phone without any problem, because when i try to play my sennheiser HD180 through my Nokia E71, the phone switches out automatically within 10 minutes, and the battery doesnt drain..it just switches off..)

And for movies aswell, will hook it up to my computer when needed..

Hmmm driving a pair of cans on a mobile is not the best thing to do. Most headphones wont get enough power to sound their best :P

If you want to stick to mobile as a source ,I suggest you look at those portable clip-on headphones .The Sennheiser PMX-100 is a good option. Its slightly above your budget @ 2.5-2.6k .But with ebay coupons you can get them cheaper ;). Or else even the PMX-60 are pretty decent and easily driven by XM mobiles .

I just checked out some sonys too..

XDR100 i guess, can you please tell me how they are, and any other clip ons you suggest under 2k?

Yeah Koss KSC75 is one of the most VFM options.

Also it will be good for portability and is easily drivable.

^^ No dude its 60 ohms. Its not that easy to drive. But most portable players should be able to drive them reasonably well. However an amp is recommended if you want the best from them.

Hmmm, I think I should have phrased that better.

I meant in comparison with the other headphones (Philips, Sennheiser) he was looking at in OP.

SHP 8500 should be decent enough. I have shp 8900 is has really good SQ, but needs an amp. Get the 8500 + e5 amp. WIll also save phone battery.

Guys ..can you shed some knowledge on HD 218, HD 437...

with the prices ...cant find a place to try them out...

Which one should i go for..?

I guess HD 218 is for 3.5k..
so out of range..
which one to get then..HD 437 or PX 100..
I just checked out HD 437 will work with PODs, mobile...without draining much battery.. :)

None of my portables drive KSC75 well (even with E5). It requires more power - uDAC does well with it though.

guys i dont want ear phones...i want headphones..

im still confused between HD 437 and PX80/100...

The PX 100 is 0.5k more than the PX 80...is it worth it?
