PC Peripherals Headphones : Philips HP 250 any good?

i just got my hands on a philips headphone catalog, and along with the hp 805, there is a model called the hp 250 going for 945/- i think..

my use is for music in the classroom, and right now , am making do with a gray market Sony MDR E - 027 ( which i must admit , totally Pwns the philips HL 140 and 150 which come for 200 and 300 bucks. the sony set me back just 180 :hap2: ... heck, even a bit :ashamed: about admitting a sony being superior.)

either way, the weak link in the chain is a crappy realtek AC'97 onboard on this acer intel mobo, cos i've got foobar kernel streaming music to it , and the sony headphones are quite all right. but there is still something missing..

i wanted to get the creative ep 630's , but its taking forever , and I'll be stuck in mys till march. so want some better gear for now.

philips emphasizes the hp 250's bass, and bass is what i want, cos i sure aint getting any good highs from this onboard :P.
anybody listened to both the hp 250 and the 805?
any other good headphones to be had from bangalore for about 1k?

the reason why I'm looking for cheaper headphones is cos my classmates here already think I'm crazy about sound , and I *think* that the sight of an HP 805 on my head might scare them :bleh: , not to mention the security whose suspicion is proportional to the size of your equipment:rofl:
 
I have HP250. Its decent. The bass and treble is good. Actually bass is better on these than 805. And they are around the ear cans so outside noise too gets suppressed.

If cant find 805 they are pretty decent.

better bass = what i want! will be picking up one soon :-)
 
thanks man... just one more thing... hows the sensitivity?

i mean, for a given vol, which one's louder?

EDIT :hmm checked the specs..

250->100dB

805->104dB

i can live with 4 db less but i dont want to get bass at the cost of volume :(

what do your ears say funky?

FURTHER EDIT: does the sound leak from the 805? i mean its an open back right? i dont want to disturb my classmates :(
 
sound does leak from 805. a person 10 feet away can feel it if volume is max :P

Both are loud enough. Both are well above my baring threshold.

HP250 wont bother a person even 5 feet away. closed cans.

I've got the 805's. Pretty okay stuff. There was another one I saw stocked up at landmark in forum which was around 4k. Looked pretty decent. Had all the yuessbbee and other snazzy shit into it.

The only downside to the 805's is that they don't have a mic. Now I know 1.3-1.5k ain't a lot but I reckon they could have fitted in a mic for that price.

*Edit* - Last nights vodka still talking. I saw your query about the hp250 only after I'd posted my thingy.
