Just a heads up from a thread on slickdeals. Blackberry has started selling the Playbook 16GB for 99$ and 32GB for 149$ internally to its employees. Retail and online sales may start soon. Keep a tab guys and suggest whether this tablet is any worthwhile?

Remember that the Playbook CANNOT be hacked to run android so this is a ok deal only if your requirements are minimal.

Nook color is a better bet IMO.

PS: There is absolutely no guarantee that this sale may come. Just speculation. This is because blackberry is selling the PB well even at the current price of 199$ for 16GB here in US. I suggest don't keep your hopes very high but be aware about it.

Thanx Raks. Its on my list after getting touchpad.

Playbook is useless without BIS services. And for BIS you need blackberry phone. So Playbook is like langda tyagi. Lol.

Check Bestbuy.com. It showed that SOLD OUT ONLINE.
Best buy has cancelled all Playbook orders that came in and around black Friday time and pulled it even from their website. The firesale has not started yet.

Can't the Playbook run Android apps? Wouldn't be a bad tablet to a BB owner I guess.

No it cannot run. However, PlayBook OS 2.0 developer beta is available, which supports an android player, but very limited and buggy.

It wont affect them like apple which take a 30% cut. So my guess is that if no massive security issues appear, they will turn a blind eye.
