Hi guys,
I just got myself a Samsung 2033SW. Hoping to get a fulfilling graphical experience I plugged it to my system, only to find out that it is not running at full resolution (1600*900). Here are the steps which I took:
1) Installed Samsung monitor driver but saw that the max. resolution available is still 1280*800
2) Uninstalled the VIA VGA driver (K8MM-V motherboard). Now I see 1600*1200 resolution as the max. available (still no 1600*900) but images are really choppy. Whenever I refresh it takes 1/2 a second to refresh the whole page from top to bottom.
3) Installed the VIA driver again and now again the max. resolution it's showing is 1280*800.

Currently I'm running my system on 1024*786 but I don't like looking at it in this state. So please suggest what should I do to get that darn 1600*900 res.

most probably your onboard video does not support that high resolution. how much memory is given to onboard video? make it to max.

ur gpu wont be supporting that resolution maybe...

btw...how much did u get it for??

Onboard is S3 Graphics Unicrome and dat is very very old chipset. :cool2:
Prolly it doesn't support that resolution at all.

U can try to force the resolution but i doubt u'll have that option even in the drivers...
Better get a cheapo graphics card or just get a new mobo...:)
Buying a 20" and watching it in 12xx resolution would be too bad a experience...

your onboard graphics is not supporting 16:9 resolution... maybe coz its very old... get any cheap gpu like 7200LE or something u will get it in 1200 bucks max. then it will support your monitor's 16:9 reso :D

First confirm the onboard graphics type cause even intel GMA 900 on intel 915 motherboards can support 2048x1536 pixels at refresh rates up to 85 Hz

So I think maybe the problem is somewhere else.

It seems that ur onboard graphics is not able to handle this resolution, like everyone here is telling.

Get a cheap graphics card and then u should have no problems.

get a cheap gfx card coz:

-ul be able to play movies at full res

-at better quality and smoothness than any onboard-gfx..

My motherboard is MSI K8MM-V with 64 MB onboard graphics. (But I think it subtracts that 64 MB from my 512MB RAM as I see a RAM of only 448MB).

Also when I was looking for driver updates I found this description for the new VGA driver:

VIA K8M800 VGA Drivers Description • Win2K/XP WHQL pass

• The Audio application which revises MS-7181(VT1617A) has signals mixed and disorderly

Driver Version:

2K/XP: 6.14.10.0297

Win9x/ME: 4.14.10.0050

WinXP 64-bit: 6.14.10.6004

Update Date 2006-10-02

@Nitant: Will the powerstrip be able to help me even if the onboard graphics doesn't support a res. beyond 1280*800?
