Help a Noob with wireless internet.

Hi

I am having a MTNL triband connection.
I want to have wireless internet for my laptop and phone but I should also have a wired connection for my desktop.

I need to know if I will be connecting the router to me mtnl modem or replace it with the wireless one?

please suggest some models based on my requirement.
 
You have two options

If you want to get rid of the mtnl modem then you can get a ADSL Wifi-Router like this

Otherwise you can get a simple wifi router like this

When using 1st option you would be replacing your mtnl modem.Phone line goes directly to rj45 connection on the ADSL Wifi Router.Then from Wifi Router to other Devices.

When using 2nd option you would not be replacing your mtnl modem.Lan Cable from MTNL modem goes to Wifi Router.Then from Wifi Router to other Devices.

I bought this router Buffalo WCR-GN and I have setup it with my pc and my laptop.

I am using 512 kbps MTNL connection and I get download speeds of about 60 kBps on the wired desktop.
But on the laptop my speed is only limited to 20 KBps though the wireless speed is rated to 150 mbps.

Why is this happning please help.
