Hi,

I have settled for buying the AMD A8-3850 Fusion Llana proc and now need help in finding the best Asus Mobo. Their India website list's 4 models. What are the differences between these models and it would be fabulous if you could also mention their prices. I am from Mumbai.

Asus A75 Mobo's

F1A75-M

F1A75-M LE

F1A75-M PRO

F1A75-V PRO

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards

I am unable to find a comparitive table or to decode the variants. At first glance the "M LE" seems to be the bare bones version followed by M; M-PRO & LASTLY V-PRO. So I guess my choice is between the last two. Lastly the V-PRO is an ATX mobo while the other 3 are uATX. So I am confused between the last 2. Note: I will be using my SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Platinum card from my old rig on the PCI slot.

I may initially not go in for a separate Graphics card. However later if needed will look at ATI Radeon 6870 or 6950 and No Sli. I may also connect my LG 47" LED TV to the HDMI out from the mobo [after I get my Graphics Card].

Lastly I am looking at installing 4+4 GB RAM - Which is the best [and reasonably priced] option to extract decent performance - 1866/1600/1333 MHz. I am not into Gaming.

Thanks Guys

Terry

Not much difference in the boards you have mentioned.

F1A75-M : MAX 64GB RAM. uATX. No heatsink on mosfet.

F1A75-M LE : MAX 32GB RAM. uATX. No heatsink on mosfet

F1A75-M PRO : MAX 64GB, Heatsink on Mosfet

F1A75-V PRO : MAX 64GB. FULL ATX, Crossfire/Sli support, heatsink on Mosfet

For your purpose F1A75-M LE is good enough.

And if you are not into gaming then 6870/6950 like cards are useless and waste of money. IMO even the Llano can handle HD movies and even some games are full HD with lowered details.

If you stay in mumbai, then visit lammy once and you will get price for each mobo

And regarding RAM you should get 2x4gb Corsair XMS3 1600mhz or 2x4GB Gskill Ripjaws X 1600mhz

Thanks Chirag. I will be using my RIG for occassional 720p & later 1080p edit of home movies. Then there is also plently of RAW image & batch processing. That's why I felt that if this RIG drags, then and ONLY then I may go for the 6870/6950 card. That's why was looking at the V-PRO version. Now if it's going to be a very big price difference then I may have to decide between the other variants.

Correct me - I read somewhere that if one want's to extract the best from this mobo then it's necessary to feed it with 1600 or 1866 MHz RAM and a Graphics Card of a higher capability - Otherwise the onboard one with 1333 MHz RAM is fine [finally leading to major cost savings]. My options are open.

I need to know the price of G-Skill 4GB stick 1333/1600/1866 to budget/plan accordingly.

Gskill Ripjaws XL or RL 4gb 1600mhz would be available for Rs.1350 in Primeabgb at lammy.

So one requirement of yours is fulfilled to get the best out of your mobo. i.e 1600mhz ram. ;) No need to think about 1333mhz ram when the price difference is hardly Rs.200/-.

I suggest you go for this rig if you have planned. Check how Llanos IGP performs according to your requirement and then if you are not satisfied, then get a discrete GPU.

Thanks again Chirag, you really have been of great help. So my 4+4 GB will come to approx Rs 2700/- WOW that's great. I am thrilled.

Incidently, I just read that AMD recommends "Boost visual performance up to 123% when you combine this AMD Quad-Core A8 APU with the AMD Radeonâ„¢ HD 6670 graphics card"
see
AMD Radeon Dual Graphics
footnote # 01

I repeat, I will use this option ONLY after seeing whether it's necessary. Now what are the prices for this graphics card with 1GB/2GB options.
