Forerunner
I recently disassembled my PC for a routine once in 3 months clean up. I assembled my PC after three days keeping all the stuff on my wooden table(not touching them once). Today when I started my PC I got the following error :
"BIOS ROM checksum error
Detecting floppy drive A media...
Drive A error. System halt"

I tried the following stuff :
1. Removed the ram,GFX and placed them again and still no difference.
2. Removed he battery(since I cleaned it while cleanup) and replaced it with a new one. Still no difference.
3. I've checked my keyboard, GFX and rams all are fine.

=>The only thing I now need to do is flash the latest bios but for it I need help to make a bootable floppy as every time I used to avoid making a bootable floppy by making a bootable CD. So please guide me on making a bootable floppy disk.

One more thing XFX is not allowing me to download the latest bios. I had downloaded it a while ago(on my PC's :@ hard disk) but now its telling me to verify my account once again???. I've sent a message regarding it to XFX's tech team lets see what happens.

TIA
regards,
Aman.

Just try pressing DEL or F1 or F2 at the error screen and see if u can enter the BIOS.
This error mostly comes when u've reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery or u've just flashed to a new BIOS.
If u can enter the BIOS just setup everything (like date, time etc) correctly and everything should be fine.

I've tried pressing the del, F1, F2 keys but I'm still not able to enter the bios.

I need a bios .bin file which I'm not able to find anywhere, I've a BIOS .iso file that needs to be burnt onto a CD, but its asking for a floppy drive.

How do I make a bootable floppy with a .bin file?? Is there any way to extract a bin file from an iso file?

Actually is your keyboard working properly ? Try your keyboard under a PS/2 port or a USB port. If its USB, then you may experience this issue.

Yes my keyboard is working properly I had set ctrl+f12 as combination key to switch on my computer and the combination is still working.

Resetting the CMOS was the second thing that I did after changing the 3v cell. Now I only have to make a bootable floppy. I finally received the bios file from XFX but my age old floppy drive is not working anymore. I'll get a FDD from a friend and try and flash the BIOS and I'll update the thread afterwards.

Ok, I finally got a Floppy Drive and made a bootable Floppy disc. The FDD is working and it's getting stuck at the "Loading AWDFLASH.EXE" page. Now I'll have to get the bios chip replaced. The board is out of warranty . Will Rashi repair the board's Bios Chip?

No so sure:S
What is the current status of the board, can you boot? Do you get any beep?

No boot beep just the instantaneous BIOS error beep. The BIOS is not booting I've shown the screen shot of the only page I'm able to see right now. I've removed the board and I'm taking it to Rashi tomorrow.

1 more IMPORTANT thing is it possible to use another board with the same hard disk(containing XP+Win7). I have a abitIP35E with me that I'm planning to boot with my previous mobo's harddisk.

few months back my xfx mobo blew up. All because of wrong BIOS flash. It gave beeps at a interval of say 3 sec. After doing lots of research on the net i found that, AMI BIOS gives such type of beep to restore the corrupt BIOS. All you have to do is to copy the BIOS file onto a floppy and start the computer. Can`t remember the source.

The beeps I'm getting are instantaneous(not 3sec interval beeps). I have the correct BIOS file on a bootable floppy. When I insert a blank-floppy I get an error message and I'm told to insert a System disk. After I insert the bootable floppy containing the bios it kept on loading the bios for 1 hour I tried pressing a number of keys but still no good. And the xfx representative told me that since the bios is getting stuck there my BIOS chip is corrupt.

AFIK the BIOS file must be renamed with a specific one. will let you know soon
Recovery procedures for AMI BIOS
Download the latest version or your choose version of BIOS file for your computer or motherboard from the manufacturer’s support site.
Rename the downloaded file to AMIBOOT.ROM.
Copy the file to a floppy disk.
Insert the floppy disk to the floppy drive.
Turn on the system.
The system should automatically access the floppy drive (indicated LED will light up). If no floppy access occurs press and hold Ctrl-Home to force update. Follow any on screen instruction to restore and recover the good BIOS from the floppy disk.
When 4 beeps are heard or a reboot prompt you may remove the floppy disk.
Restart the computer.

The AMIBOOT.ROM didn't work with a CD(even after using 'ctrl+home' for forced detection) . I'll try it with a Floppy too, I found a mistake I made earlier,i.e, I didn't rename the flash update file to "AWDFLASH.exe" it was named as AWD890.exe.

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

All my floppy drives are faulty. I'll have to delay the process for another week.

Ok mate , just imform be if it works for you. BTW that AMIBOOT.ROM thing will only work with floppy.
