i plan to buy a new digicam
i have shortlisted 3...please tell me the difference between them
panasonic tz5, sony h3 and canon sx100

i know panasonic doesnt have manual controls...but it is smaller in size and easy to fit in the pocket
on the other hand i am interested in photography and would like manual controls so cant decide if i should go for portability or functions..
what is the difference between the sony h3 and canon sx100
are there any other cameras that offer manual controls and are slim enough? i wouldnt mind with a little less optical zoom..say around 7x if they are available
 
i saw canon tx1 also has 10x optical zoom and it is compact....how is the quality of that one..does it have manual controls?
 
il b gettin them from singapore or bangkok..budget i guess around 15k ...can extend it a lil

plus if it has manual controls and is portable then i might even consider it even if its out of budget

so does it have manual control?

is there any camera in the market which is small enuf to fit in pocket..has manual control and has a good optical zoom?? budget no problem

The Panny will have slightly better image quality due to better optics. But as you have rightly pointed out, it lacks manual controls.

If you like to learn more about photography, then get the SX100IS as it HAS manual controls and it not too shabby in image quality.
 
^^panasonic uses leica lenses which give better image quality ....
but in your price range and considering that its coming in from abroad, you can check out the canon s5is or the panasonic lumix fz18 too
^^though they are a bit bulkier like the h3, they will reward you if u r genuinly interested in photography
 
what about the tx1..does it have manual controls

and i kinda want to know what exacly are manual controls...as in what will i be able to control in the sx100 and which i wont b able to in the tz5
