But wudn't that mean putting modem in PPPoE mode directly? I was kinda hopin' to avoid that as it wud imply me to undergo port forwarding too. BTW if I do the way u say then, in case of a laptop too, I'll just have to connect to the WiFi and start surfing/downloading ? :cool2:
Can u also please tell me how to transfer files of my desktop to a laptop via WiFi link?
@Offtopic, take a look at the
link and can anyone tell the details about it, I mean if one has the money then can one buy it?
So I tried the following:
1. Changed the mode to PPP over Ethernet from Bridging.
2. Save and Reboot the modem
3. This time didn't dial and reverted the LAN settings to DHCP.
Now LAN keeps showing Local access only and and "Identifying" as status.
After doing so, not able to access net on the PC and now get the No Gateway reply message even quicker, on the phone.
What all changes need to be made and where, please highlight so.
I tried it in XP too, kept the LAN to static IP, i.e.
IP Address: 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS Server:
WINS Server:
still nothing works even. As soon as I revert back to bridging mode from the PPPoE inside the modem, it starts working normally but when I set it too PPPoE in the modem, give my User ID and password in the next page and Save and Reboot, everything goes haywire. Please help me out folks!
I'm putting up screenies of my config, the one that is when the mode is set to PPPoE, for bridging mode too, the local config remains the same, only changes are made inside the modem.
 :S
