Hi guyz,

Need to decide for a FUll HD LCD monitor this week. From the past reading at TE I've found these options

Samsung 2233SW ~ 14,000

or

benq E2200HD ~ 12,500

or

benq T2200HD 21.5"

Pls suggest which one to go for, Price is secondary concern, Image quality & after sales is more important.

I have a HD4870 to power the games, so no probs at resolution front.

Pls do suggest if any other make/model is available..

Thx & Regards

@OP: Seems like a lot of members here flaunt the Benq 21.5" Full-HD LCD but IMO it doesn't make sense to have full-HD cramped into 22inchers or any lesser. I dont think 720p would make a noticeable difference if u were to watch it on a normal 22 incher LCD.

The Dell S2209WFP is a good LCD as well. It is a full-HD panel. Plus the Dell customer service ought to be a lot better than Benq or the likes. JFYI. :)

The best part is someone's offering a GO for Dell LCDs:

The S2209WFP has been put up for 10, 500 (+ shipping IINM).

Hmm,
I did read somewhere that when gaming at Full HD in 22'', the pixel pitch is so tight that anti-aliasing is not needed at all. This would really help in cases where the GPU can play a game ok at that res but not at all with AA switched on.

Not true. Even CRT monitors, which don't have a fixed number of pixels unlike LCDs, show aliased lines. I remember playing Doom 3, and Half Life 2 on my 17" CRT, without AA and with AA, and being zonked by the difference in Image Quality when AA was turned on.

I know AA does make a lot of difference. In my own 17'' CRT, NFS Most Wanted looks a LOT better with full AA.

But in case of 22''+FullHD res the jagged lines might be too small to see .. I will try to find the link where I read this.

EDIT: This is the link

Go there and search for the word anti-aliasing

Full HD is nothing more than a marketing ploy. Just like ultra-fast responsiveness. More important things are panel used, built quality, ergonomics. And right now nothing beats Dell 2209WA (around 12K according to Amarbir) in its class on these accounts. For anyone with dough, I will suggest 2209WA over any other 22" monitor in India right now. If you really want full HD with image quality step up on 24" stage.

22" full HDs are 16:9 which is less screen space than 22" normal (16:10).

Get T2200HD 9.5k, I had the pleasure of owning both T2200 and E2200, T2200 has no spkrs, HDMI and 1:1 pixel mapping for lower resolutions. But U have HD 4870, it will allow U to stick to native 1080p, so no issues. Looks wise, T2200HD is better.

am using the benq e2200hd myself...am very much impressed with it....its great out of the box...no tweaking calibrating needed....

hd movies look awesome.....the games are great.....all in all a great lcd..good colors ....u wont regret it..

and btw the 2233sw costs just 10ks....but its got backlight bleeding problems..and no hdmi..

Just to clarify, Samsung 2233SW is not 14k+ but just 10.3k something...

Dell as far as the reviews goes is the same quality as the Samsung even the pixel pitch...Neither have HDMI as well...
And looks wise the Samsung is drop dead gorgeous...

Dell prices are exclusive of Octroi and shipping...which would add up to more...

Benq E2200HD and E2200HDA are two different models and then the T2200HD. As far as i have heard,
The T2200HD does not scale well at lower resolutions.
On the other hand, E2200HD scales well and has HDMI. Didn't get reviews of E2200HDA(only with Analog input), so better so stay away coz of analog only...:P
Samsung scales well at all lower resolutions as far as my experience...

So, if not budget limited go for the Dell Ultrasharp models, else the Samsung/Dell whichever looks u like...:)

Backlight bleeding is common in most 22" be it the Samsung the Dell or the Benq...:bleh:

If u need HDMI, u would have to shell off ~2.4k more for the Benq but that's something u might use later on....Decide on ur usability...:)

This is kinda urgent and I need some help. Friend of mine wants to buy the Dell 2209 (TN) monitor and he is getting it for 10k delivered. Is it a good deal?

Is the monitor any good? Will mostly be used for gaming with Xbox and PC.

Really would appreciate an early reply.
