Help decide setup a wireless network

I have a tata indicom connection via lan cable to my primary pc. apart from this i have a laptop. most of my files are stored on pc and i dont want duplicate data on my lappy. also i want to share the internet connection from tata between both my machines.

here is what i think...

Get a wireless router, connect to pc via lan from router, connect to laptop via wireless. however how do i access my pc files on my lappy?

secondly, which would be a good router under 2k? can it give a range of 10 meters with 2 walls in between?

Considering yours is the most simple possible network topology, the simplest option would be to get a basic wireless router and let the router handle the Internet connection directly

The PC/laptop/other clients can get the connection from the router wired or wireless

sharing files is a breeze and you just need to enable file sharing on your systems

any basic wireless router will do the job for you

If you could suggest a good router within 2k budget, also can i share my computer files (my comp would be connected to the router via lan cable) via router on my laptop?

Also the lan wire to connect computer to router should it be crossover or simple extension?

you can go for a buffalo whr g125 if you are ready to put the custom firmware..
file sharing is simple...very similar to a wired n/w
computer to router should be a straight through lan cable

10m with 2 walls can be handled by any router easily...
