hi !
i purcahsed a set top box from my cable operator(Humax) in which a card has to be inserted to view the channels..i wuz thinking is it possible to watch for channels which are not provided by my cable operator by purchasing some other card ;) .. pls i am a noob in this ..apology if question too silly..but need some info..

thx in advance:)

I dont think that you get a viewing card (aka VC) outside separately, and even if you do you wont be able to watch the channels.

Every card is embedded with a chip (looks like a SIM card of your mobile) and has its own ID number (aka VC number) which is used to register the VC with each and every paid channel, which means you will have to pay, which agains means you are back to square 1.

so useless of trying this option IMO.

if i am missing something between the lines others may add.

If you can try to ROB your cable-wala's office.
You can get a MASTER CARD that can be used to see ALL CHANNELS.
(It is meant for testing and related things for cable-wala)

If they don't know the no of the card, they can't block the card. And if they can't able to black the card then enjoy the FREE CHANNELS

Heard they sell illegal VCs at Burma Bazzars (at atrocious rates)

These channels come directly from the satellite (So, I suppose one needs to have DTH ?) AFAIK...

Don't ask me anything else :D

In Indian scenario at present the STB and VC are tied to the service provider.

That means you can not use some other service providers VC and put it in your STB and view channels you wish.

So right now your options are limited and you can not do anything about it. Get stuck to your DTH operator and see what they show.

IF you have subscribed to DD Direct plus you can tune FTA channels on the satellite you have alighned you dish or you can rearrange and see the FTA channels which have their footprint on India.
