I have the right password and all but don't have access to the device it was logged in before what to do???
All it asks is to press the number it shows on screen on previous device.

There is typically always an option to select "I don't have access to the device" or something similar, in which case you'll be presented with alternate options for authentication.

If you don’t have the previous device, try using backup codes, a recovery email, or Google's account recovery page. If nothing works, you might need to contact Google support.

Assuming that you've tried everything from "Try another way", your account is most probably gone for good. You can try to sign in from the same device / IP address that you have used in the past. Otherwise there are no hopes left. I have lost an account in the last year. Even though I have the right password for it, and never turned 2FA on, still it keeps on asking me for authentication even today.

The thing is I removed the account from accounts tab in the Android device but it shows as a signed in device according to google.

After clicking that it says "You didn’t provide enough info for Google to be sure this account is really yours."

Looks like I have to create a new one now
I got my account back somehow finally, I have finally linked a mobile number just so that I can recover my account needed. I also made a new account, thinking that this account was a goner and changed email on a few platforms to this new one, now what to do? Should I keep this email as a backup or just delete it?
Edit: Can't edit the post now but I got my account back now on 17th february

a recovery email, or Google's account recovery page .. that should help you out
I had gotten the account back, but I hadn't added any recovery info before. So, it didn't let me in first time but after some hours later, I logged into the account. Then, i added recovery info first.
Also, thank you for your concern.
you need to use backup codes
How do I generate backup codes? At that time I didn't have access to the device in which the account was logged in before. So, there was no way of login in other than entering password.

Since KeepassXC runs on your computer you don't need the phone for the 2FA. I suggest you try out the whole thing on a non primary gmaul first to get used to the process.

The workflow is to setup 2FA using the authenticator (KeepassXC ) installed on your computer and then set this method as the primary 2FA method taking precedence over phone prompt, SMS etc. You can also setup an authenticator app (eg. Aegis) on your primary phone / a secondary phone using the same secret on all devices [computer, phone(s)] and use any of them to generate the TOTP.

When you logon to your gmail you'll be asked to enter the TOTP from your authenticator app (if you have other 2FA methods on the account, you will be shown the options to select them instead if you wish to).

Start KeepassXC on your computer / Aegis (etc.) on your phone(s), use the TOTP option for the account from the authenticator app and enter the code shown into the 2FA prompt from gmail.

The backup codes (generated when you first setup 2FA at Gmail) can be used if you don't have access to KeepassXC on your computer. Remember to regenerate a fresh set of backup codes from gmail once you use them up since each backup code is one-time use only.
