This is the GPU im talking abt ...
XFX Geforce FX5200 WITH HSF (without a Cooling Fan :( )

as u can see from the pics below...ive just placed a 80mm fan on the PCI card bwlow i (sound card ) to blow the air directly onto the HSF of the AGP card... . can anything more be done ...which can be worked out cheaply?...
some smaller fan or anything??.

better fir the fan perpendicular in the card ..... as in this arrangement fan can't suck the air coz of sound card...... 5200 usually doesn't get much hot

According to the PIC given, your FAN setup is 100% wrong. It is even worse than without the FAN.

Reason:
It can be clearly seen that the SOUND CARD+FAN+AGP CARD all together has created a airless zone on the Heat-Sink of the AGP card.
After all, the FAN needs open space of drag air and throw it to the card, which is totally blocked by the SOUND CARD.

Solution:
1. You can do the MOD shown by 'max_ds'. I really like it and you can do it with your existing FAN, no need to buy other stuffs.

2. Or install a smaller FAN like 40mm on the Heat-Sink.

I dunno whether the pics are gud enough . Uploading them in a hurry(I have to complete 2 assignments)

The metal thing to which the fan is attached was removed from a cdrom drive bay.

^^i have another P3 system...& i thought the same exact thing...but as IOSOFT said....it simply wont fit..:(

ok.heres' how it is now....had to put a small extension to make the fan come close to the HSF of the GPU...:P

the temperature of the HSF (acc to the analog thermometer i have ) is ~ 34 degrees:hap2: @idle....will post the load temp after a few hrs of CSS..^_^
