HELP! Hard disk not booting up

Hi,

All of a sudden, the hard disk light on my comp doesnt seem to go on. There was this one occurence when it came on and PC turned on. It showed 'CPU is unworkable' at the POST screen, but pressing f1, it seemed to go into the OS without any problem. But now i'm unable to even goto the BIOS, the HDD light wont come on!!!

1. Disconnect your HDD and reset your CMOS using the motherboard jumpers.
2. Check if your system works normal, without the HDD
3. if yes, connect your HDD and post your result
 
not working. tried resetting with hdd and without. still the same. :( even tried removing and replacing the battery.

EDIT: while starting up, i get the hdd light for just a fraction of a second. then back to uselessness. :@

What is the error you get when you try to access BIOS at boot. Are you able to boot PC with any other method, e.g CD, USB, etc. If nothing is coming up, even the POST screen, no beeps, than there may be something wrong with the board, processor, or RAM and no problem with HDD.
 
BIOS used to show CPU is unworkable. I tried as suggested above; clear CMOS, and its working now after a few days. Not sure what solved the problem.
