Hey all !!

I have dwnloaded and installed Vista Build 5728. :hap2:
Now the problem is that I am not able to connect to the internet ! :(

This is the way I connect in Xp -

I have a Realtek 8139 NIC.

I connect to a LAN. (Cablenet)
And then log in to my account.. through raspppoe.

In Xp.. I had installed raspppoe (provided by my isp).

Once connected to lan.. I queried for available connections by running raspppoe from the run command...

It shows up a few services and i select mine an log in. (Have to do it only once)

After that.. I can simply dial it wenever i want.

How to get this up and running on Vista ??

1)Right click on Network ( under former Start button ), this opens when you click on Start

2)Click Properties.

3)Click View Status.

4)Click Properties.

5)Click on option with IPv4.

6)Configure IP and the rest.

7)Don't forget to rep me.

think raspppoe is a diff protocol which you need to install...try searching your hard disk if you have saved it anywhere, dunno if the xp version will work on vista, just configuring ipv4 wont do anything, infact you can leave it as it is. then run raspppoe and query available services and so on...

just configuring ipv4 solves the problem as iam using vista since 20 days & i had done the same thing which Mafia has said now

You got exatt connection ??(cause that is the only isp i know of which uses rasppoe)...btw wt u configure in ipv4 , just enter the ips ??

I had exatt conn arnd a year back and used to install rasppoe through LAN properties --> Install --> Protocol --> Select/beowse to Rasppoe install

Then Run --> rasppoe ---> query available services --> select exact --> enter user id & pass then login.

Only configured tcp/ip for sify and set tcp/ip to auto for triband.

@mafia.. i would love to rep ya.. but that is if da bloddy internet wrks !! :(
On Xp.. I dont have to configure my ip details...
I can leave it on auto.. (then it connects to lan)
and thru raspppoe i get my connection.. (Exatt)
and then login with userid and pass..

So ur tips wont help buddy..

@xfactor.. ur rite .. i got exatt..
the Xp raspppoe drivers wont install in Vista.. Compatibility issues !! :@
ran it in compatibility mode too.. wid admin rights.. no gain !!

@others.. any suggestions ??

doesn't matter if it doesn't do automatically, try to fill the details, might work.

wth are u saying , where's he supposed to fill the details ?? how does it work automatically if no protocol installed ??

Here's how it works ADSL via Network Card : Alternative Access software : RASPPPOE (Win2000)

@raj you can try downloading the latest 0.99beta drivers from here,

RASPPPOE - PPP over Ethernet Protocol by Robert Schlabbach

vista support is not mentioned, write to the guy who wrote this drivers and ask him abt vista support

@thexfactor.. thanks for the links.. helpfull !! :)

dwnloaded the drivers.. trying.. lets see if they wrk..

installing both versions of raspppoe (0.98 and 0.99 beta) gives me bsod's !!

after restart.. the protocol seems to get installed but dont wrk !! :(
