CA50

Forerunner
Its summer and my gfx card is running hot. Its 8800Gt and its factory OCed at 660/950.
I want to underclock it as i don't do gaming all the time and OC is not necessary all the time.

Can you suggest me some tools, though which i can underclock it and OC it whenever i want ?

TIA

+1 for XtechManiac...or else you can use the nvidia control panel to change power setting from balanced to low power

You have a pretty good cooler on your card, I think its more likely that the thermal compound has dried up due to its age.

MSI afterburner has profile saving mode. One can actually have different clock profile and save and load it using user-defined keyboard shortcuts.

Even I need to underclock my GTX460 during downloads and normal browsing and reduce power consumption. But how exactly to underclock?? Bring the clock all the way down to minimum and see or it should be done in steps just like overclock??

you should be able to do it using MSI after burner (its based on RivaTuner), get it from their site.

Currently i am using some generic TIM, thats may be the reason. Also i have modded my cabby , and i have added one intake fan below the GPU which is now blocked as i am still waiting for some LED fans :P

Download Rivatuner. This tool is often used to underclock and overclock nVidia cards.. Then follow this guide.

BTW, you should get some cooler fans instead. :)

tried that, but its too complicated for me, so i am thinking about MSI afterburn. Thanks for your reply

Wait, which cooler does your card have?
