Hi,
I am from Mumbai
I bought BenQ G2420 HD 24" Monitor ( Full HD) today
I am confused in deciding which DTH Service is better
Should i go for HD connection or jst Normal will do.
My main list of channels wil be English Channels
Please Help me

On an HD monitor SD channels would look awful... Just the way DVDRips look on HD monitors... And the worst part is that there are hardly many True HD channels in India... Most DTH providers are offering upscaled channels (Marketing Gimmick)... The upscaled channels looks stretched out on HD monitors/TVs... So IMO instead of taking a HD STB buy SD STB... Buy an HD STB later when almost every channel in India would turn into True HD channel ;)

agree, perfect advice:hap2:

btw Tata sky's pay per channel is fair enough? condition free? if yes then @OP, tata sky will b good bt dat 2 depends on hw mny channels u r goin 2 watch

due 2 hd marketin gimmick i still prefer local cabelwala, 197/month > 300 channels(only 220 channels r viewable rest south indian) n disconnection even for a minute or 2 never occur like dth in heavy rains

honestly speaking dont bother about HD.its pure marketing gimmick.these buggesr (airtel, videocon, relaince, tata),they charge premium for normal sports channel and they want to charge more for HD broadcast.

many times signals are encrypted and they dont allow occasional recording of some real good tv srial or anything.

i am also of same opinion that cable does better than dth.

thats best thing.

no encryption no zanzat.

you can record if you feel like.

they dont cut your connection if you forget to recharge dth.

they give you better package if you pay for a year.

last but not the least, you can catch hold of your local cable guy if you have any issue.

regarding these buggers(dth), your luck decides on when engineer will turn up at your place if something goes wrong.

I am going to through out Airtel DTH moment the validity is over.

another marketing gimmick is a la carte.

no matter how few channels you watch, you are charged 150 rs per month minimum.

Get Normal Cable and get done with it.

Try and find out the Set-Top-Box availability in your area. You can score really cheap deals (Free STB + all major channels for the same price) if you bargain. Many cable operators are facing increased competition from DTH providers and hence they are providing cheap deals to retain customers.

Not here though. I tried but the cable operator has a political bigwig under him so he wont budge.
Also to the party affiliated the operator blocks out those news channels which serves content against their party. So i need to shift to a dth operator soon.

so i bought a HDTV .

need sugesstiions for HD packs with regional marathi channels.

any suggestions for around 200 monthly pack and from which operator?
