Graphic Cards Help in deciding between 9060XT and 9070.

Its time to upgrade my GPU from RX 580. Its still working fine but I think I will change it anyway (Its 8 year old now).

Now, the thing is that I am not hardcore gamer (I play casually like MSFS, CoD etc.) and my current resolution is 1080. If I keep this in mind then I feel that I should be OK with 9060XT 16GB card. But then I don't often change my GPU (if it doesn't die on its own) and hence will like to get a card which will last for atleast another 5-6 years without giving me any hiccups in future gaming titles. I might also upgrade to 1440 monitor and AM5/AM6 CPU (from my current 5600X) in a year or two. With this in mind I feel 9070 should be a better option (though it costs lot more than 9060XT).

Can anybody please help decide?

Will you be ok with 9060xt at 1080p? Imo yes. But..

while 9070 will be more expensive, if budget is not a constraint, it would be more future proof, especially considering you're looking to upgrade your cpu in the future.

The 9070 would be less of a potential bottle neck.

AM6 is not coming out until 2028, late 2027 at the earliest. I honestly don't see a reason to jump to AM5 for current AM4 owners considering the 5700x3d exists. (Except ofc if you want a new mobo for more ssd slots/more modern usb slots etc.) Even your 5600x won't really create problems in games at 1440p at higher settings. You're going to be GPU limited like in 90+% of modern games. Best to use that money to get 9070 and a 1440p monitor and stick with your CPU platform until it works. If you have anything over than the most flimsy cheapest entry level b450/550 board, it will probably outlast the launch of first gen of AM6 cpus too. It's callrd AM4ever for a reason.

9060XT 16GB is a good GPU for 37k or so. You can consider its performance to be similar to PS5 Pro, so will easily be good for another 5 years IMO along with 5600X (provided you lower quality as required in future & even use FSR at 1080p).

Considering the kind of games you play, and how you've managed to sustain with an RX 580 for this long:

9060XT 16GB

So I have 2 suggestions for 9060XT and 2 suggestions for 9070...I think I am stuck again....
But yes, I too have been thinking of skipping AM5 and wait for AM6 platform....The best I will do is upgrade my CPU to 5700X3D or 5950X in some future to sustain my existing setup....and later upgrade to 1440 monitor....

For 1080p, 9060 XT is great. It's decent for 1440p as well. But don't expect 120+ FPS native. So, it really depends on if, and when you'll upgrade to 1440p.

If you'll definitely upgrade in the next 2-3 years, get the 9070 (but getting that card for 66k when you can get the XT for 70k doesn't make sense). 5070 FE is also a decent buy at 60k.

Since you are considering a monitor upgrade a 9070 would be more sensible. High refresh rate monitors have become quite common now, and even a 240Hz QD-OLED is coming it at ~55K now.

Also noticed that Computech has a Gigabyte 9070 model at 62K which is quite a good deal. Good enough to make it a better pick than the 9060 XT.

Would a 9070XT be a good option if one is building a new PC and upgrading the monitor? I'm considering doing both.

I too thought of 9070XT for 71k but then I will also have to upgrade my PSU to atleast 850W (from my current 750W)...this is will add another 10-12k to my cost...not considering.

Where are you seeing 9070 for 62k...At Computech I can only see Asrock Steel Legend 9070 for 65k...also Computech seems to have not very good repo online....should I still go for it?

Sclgaming has one for 64k by the way. You could buy it offline at BLR if you want.

Not sure why you don't see it. I am hoping Computech isn't pulling anything shady like different prices after log-in.

9070 is too close to 9070XT to be worth considering. Just get 9070XT at 70k if you are spending that much. At 62k, kind of good enough price difference, but your call. Do call Computech for stock info before placing order.

No, you don't. It'll run fine with your 750W unit. Unless it's a Zebronics unit :hilarious:

Like I said before - I'll have to buy new PSU too adding 10-12k to the price of 9070XT..so in effect I'll pay around 20K more for 9070 XT upgrade over 9070...Do you think its worth? I currently have 750W PSU which is enough for 9070 but not 9070 XT.

What resolution are you targeting? For 1440P, 9070 XT is definitely a good option. For 4K, 5070 Ti is also a good option if you have the budget for it. It's price has gone down a fair but in the past 2 months.

My personal experience with AMD has soured a bit with the Stellar Blade demo update. AMD's frame gen just breaks in all ways once you go past your monitor's refresh rate.

As for Computech, I have only ordered from them once. Dispatch was delayed by a couple of days, and they didn't reply to my message, but I did eventually get my item so can't complain.

Nah, not worth upgrading your PSU as well.

it comes down to your budget, 9070 far exceeds 9060xt, no brainer
I know but now some guys have added 9070XT to the battle....so its now 3-way fight. Since I want to keep the GPU for atleast 5-6 years so I will not think of the budget much now (price difference of around 35k between 9060XT OC and 9070XT isn't much). I don't play the games at ultra settings but need GPU to support my future planned system without causing any hiccups while playing latest games. So a reasonable suggestion is required. Obviously most powerful GPU is always OK but then is it worth it? -that's where I need help in.
