Please suggest config for eco friendly pc . . It must consume less power and dont heat up too much . kind of an energy efficient computer . . .
Budget is 40k

If it's for mid gaming and general purpose, I'd come up with this but I'm not too sure what the prices would be. (Should be near 40k though)

I doubt you will get the GPU in India @ Low prices, so maybe ask someone like kmd or if you can arrange the card from the US , it'll be great.

well the most ecofriendly pc thats comes to mind is macmini it uses less than 13 watts when idle, that along with the keyborad+mouse will work up to 35k or lesser any generic lcd would suffice.
purchase it with iwork best business apps on the market i daresay better than ms office
PS: for casual gaming its just about ok

dude the guys first condition is the pc should be energy efficient and the first thing that comes to mind is mac mini
and for casual gaming mac mini is not halfbad nvidia 9400 is no gtx agreed but its passable
it has a limited games selection but its applications like imovie, iweb, iwork and not to mention the os itself is a cut above MS even with the launch of windows 7 which is a millions times better than vista (first hand experience)

Dude it's office related work!

Half of the stuff he needs won't even work on his Mac!

The point is MAC is not common in this country. I Agree it is common in the US especially in offices and all but that is not the case here.

Everything is so just limited to Microsoft. So him buying a mac would be the biggest stupidity of all times.

Most eco-freindy is the atom with mini-itx boards. Apart from it, intel mini-itx boards are there for g-41 & g-45 chipsets, so that these can be coupled with e-5200.

You don't need a separate graphics card. That will help reducing the power consumption drastically.

Athlon II 240 + 785g from amd is a decently power efficient and decently powerful solution.

Okay, how about some lateral thinking ? A gaming rig can never be really power efficient and a power efficient rig can never do good gaming. If we can separate them into two different requirements, you can come up with two machines that take the same space and meet all your requirements and your budget of 40k.

Rig 1: Antec NSK4400 Cabinet(1.5k), Corsair VX 450W (3.5k), Core2Duo (6k), any good motherboard (4k), 4GB DDR2 (3.5k), a 1TB sata drive (4.3k) and a good DVD burner (1.2k) with a Radeon 4850 card (7.5k).

Net total of 30k. Power usage is approximately 120-220watts.

Rig 2: Build your own mini ITX rig. Get the MOREX T3300 mini ITX case (3.5k) with inbuilt DC adaptor, a Intel Atom dual core 330 board+cpu (4.5k), 2GB DDR2 (1.5k), 80gb laptop hard disk (2.5k).

Net total of 12k. Power usage is approximately 30-50watts at all times and the machine will be great for all activities except gaming. Also great as a 24 hour downloading rig.

See : Panache

So there you go. The second rug will be the size of a harry potter book and will be attached behind your LCD monitor using the standard VESA mount. And both the machines connect to the same LCD. You use the smaller one for all activities and boot into the power hungry monster only when you need to game.

i agree with vinay can either have a gaming rig or eco friendly one
what's so funny about owning a mac it is compatible with ms office and it has iwork ,other business softwares that come to mind are quicken which is a finance software, so i think the aforementioned covers your basic business software

could you please specify the softwares which are incompatible with the mac and even if there are they would be a perfect substitute on the mac side

gtx will kick the 9400 tiny behind anyday but at the same time its not what you call eco friendly

also the mini is compact itll make a decent office computer

:-

1- AMD X2 240/250
2-Asus M4A785TD-V EVO -7k
3- 2x2 GB DDR3 1333Mhz ram-5.5k
4-500GB HDD
5-Corsair VX450 PSU-4k
6-20" Samsung LCD- 7k
7-Sapphire 4770 GPU- 6.8k
8- APC 500/650 UPS- 2k/3k
9-Cabby
10-Logitech Basic optical mouse & KK
11- Samsung DVD RW

Above rig should come in your budget :)
