Hi guys, till now i have been using my rommies washing machine, the Samsung WA85VPN and found it good.
Its street price was about 15.5k INR(MRP Rs. 16,790/-) when he got it(4 months back). Now he will be moving out and i need to get a new washing machine

I was looking for a machine without the useless silver nano and mist shower features and zeroed in on two models.
Samsung WA82VSLEC - MRP.13,490
Samsung WA82V4GEC - MRP.11,590
Street prices should be 800-1200 rs lower at my place.
WA85VPN | WA82VSLEC | WA82V4GEC

The major difference between the two is WA82VSLEC model has a better, bigger LED display and STS inner tub(Diamond Drum) whereas the cheaper one has ordinary PP Tub.

I dont care about the LED. But is the Diamond drum really worth the 2k premium?

I had zeroed in on these Samsung ones as i was pretty satisfied with the current machine's performance. Dunno much about other brands. So open to suggestions.

Budget: 10-11k. Can extend it by 1-2k if the performance difference is worth it. Delay start feature is a must. It is very useful for me :)

Help me guys.:S

No one here has any idea about Top loading washing machines :S

Pls ask your mom/wife/GF's and please help me :D

Does anyone at least know in which forum i will get suggestions for this query.

Some comparison, review sites other than Compare India and mouthshut.com

Some help would be useful.

well i would suggest you to change ur mind and get a front loading ones, their wash quality is better ,they also use less water.
2 years ago i too was looking for a top loading ones ,but after some research and feedback i started to favour the front loading ones.

todays top loading ones are more complex they use mulitple complex gears to drive one or many agitators.
for example whirpools uses two and fro circular motion.
the lgs use multiple minature agitators etc.

where as the front loadings ones clean the laundry by tumbling them, hence more closer to hand wash.

^^ I was in same boat as DarkAngel. But now I'm looking for a front loader budget around 20k. Any recommendation for this budget?

I have been using Whirlpool H650 for last 1 year now. I am not sure if there are updated versions of this model available. You can check out this model.

@adder:

As i am single i don't wanna spend so much on washing machines. The front loading ones are double my budget :ashamed:

@askids:

The whirlpool ones have a small rod at the center right? Some ppl i asked says that they rip off shirt buttons sometimes. Is that true? Have you faced any problems with your washing machines.

well my aunt had a whirpool top loading in bahrain ,no idea about shirts but she did say long clothes like saree used to sometimes entangle and tear, which also has worn of the gears ,hence they now use front loading ones.

I haven't faced any such problems till now. Another plus point of this WM is that it comes with inbuilt geyser(not hot water input). So for dirty clothes or bedsheets, according to the program selected, it will decide whether to use hot or not. It also continues from it went out in case of power failures (this will std feature in most WM).

Which brands should i check out for a top loading WM in the 10-11k range?
Samsung, LG ??? I dont feel like getting a whirlpool.

You can get a decent front loader for 15k, so its not double your budget. Do consider it. A top loader with similar features (heater, steel drum) will end up costing 12-13k anyway. Not much difference.

Samsung makes decent top loaders in case you are still inclined to buy one.

Front loader 15k? Pls tel me brands(models if possible) that sell in the market for this price. Will have a look at them before deciding :D

well you do get one from IFB and haeir, but both of them are poor(ifb) to average(haier) build quality.
whirpools ones uses to start at 16.6k not sure about it now after the recent exise duty hikes etc.but build quality is better then most brands.

Has the budget already caused a rise in washing machine prices? If they are still selling for pre-budget prices then till when it will continue doing so?(March End?)

we are using a samsung top loader fully automatic for last 4 years and they come with 2 years onsite warranty.

theirs ASS support is good.

I would say go for the SS drum as its more durable over a longer run.

I bought a top loader Whirlpool for my mom about 3 months back. It's the only brand that offers a hot wash option (i.e. an inbuilt geyser). Other top loading machines need to be fed hot water extraneously. I forget the exact model no., but it was a 7KG machine and cost me about 14K from ezone after lots of bargaining. Front loaders usually have an inbuilt geyser (I have a 4 year old IFB that does - cost 19K).

Not much difference in wash quality and buttons etc. tend to get broken in both the machines. The top loader wash cycles are however longer than the front loader.

Could anybody please help shed some light on this?‎
