Help me decide by night, Canon SD800 or A630 ?

The SD 800 IS is one of the best compact camera's that money can buy. It is a little more expensive though... are you sure the price diff is only 1k ?
 
Depends... What will be basic use of camera... Amateur photography or traveling...

For Amateur photography go in for 630 for traveling go in for SD800...

Basically the formar has manual features which you find on DSLR's and is on the bulkier side with four AA batteries going in it as compared to the later which is an ultra compact size and comes with rechargeable proprietary batteries...
 
Abhi, I have both an A series and SD series - I'd pick the SD over the A any day of the week, irrespective of what you will use it for ;)
 
@Rio... No offence man but it totally depends on who is using it... Ultra compact has it own advantages but a wanna be photographer will be more happy with a A series then a SD series as one can experiment a lot with A Series :)

Yeah, i think its 1-1.5k diff between the two, the best thing i liked about the SD800 is its large LCD + high resolution

n in for both, but more of amateur then traveling

ohh a'right.

i want a cam that is like semi-pro. i know A series can prove a good Semi-pro cam.

how good is the picture quality of A then SD ?
 
i've got the SD500 (?) the 5MP version labelled Digital iXus ZooM

it looks sexy, but it has a problem of dark corners once in a while.. plus its got fewer mode options IMO..

hope the SD800 is better, but honestly i cant find a use for 7MP pix :|
 
If you are interested in amatuer level photography then you should seriously consider the S3 IS. If not then get the A710 IS... nothing else.

will get my A630 by tonite,, got it over the A710 IS coz of its flipable LCD n it looks a bit better then the A 710, i found the 710 very ugly :P srry :)

then buy the SD800 IS aka IXUS 800 IS

IS is important not a flippable LCD :@

^^agree amazing...I found the A710IS stunning, and bought 2 in Japan!!!

Looks good, shoots well just read the reviews...

flippable LCD??? That's not a real reason mayte...Looks, even less of a reason, personally I found the A630 a touch ugly with the largish hand grip...4x AA's make it heavier too, I prefer to carry 2 AA's in my pocket and 2 in the cam thank you...;)

but to each his own...

ok i will be true, A710 IS wasnt available at my uncles shop :ashamed: :ashamed: but i seriously found it a bit Ugly man.. seriously. but its personal choice, I like the Simple curves on the A630 :P. But the flipable screen was also a major reason y i got it.. lol

SD800 wasnt in stock, or else i wanted that cam only, I really fell in Love with it I really like the large LCD with high Reso on that, but my Parents leaving for EU in a few days,, so cant wait for the SD800 to get in stock. :D :P
