PC Peripherals Help me find FIRMWARE

Installed in a friends laptop:

Toshiba Satellite A100 Dual Core Notebook PC.

I am looking for XP drivers of this laptop along with DVD drive's frimware please.

Was kinda difficult to find online hence posted here.

FIRMWARE MATA UJ-850S : Dvd drive model number, need FIRMWare of this one please

Thanks man, mine is surprisngly A100 - PSAAKL :huh: and FIRMWARE is top priority as the optical drive is not funtioning my last resort is to flash it to install fresh XP or is there any other way to install XP on a laptop without the optical drive??

According to the their Indian site, the A100 drivers support PSAA8* & PSAA9*.

So I'm guessing that the hardware is identical, hence the same drivers.

Woah thanks... i need the firmware though: to make the drive working (last hope)

EDIT: Some bugger installed vista business on a 512mb lappy... i need windows 7 or XP firmware.... trying this one if it works

EDIT: 1: It is not firmware, just a DVD software burning tool or something... says driver

I did it for my friend Toshiba( don't know model ) laptop whose case was similar to yours and yes it worked

Sounds interesting but the laptop's optical drive is dead (spins but doesnot read any disc, so booting with XP CD is impossible), i will try to flash DVDR/W drive's firmware in the hope that it might start working. Is there any way of opening laptop and installing XP with a IDE desktop optical drive??? :cool2:
