i want to make a very small pc set for the following use...

1. downloading 24*7
2. watching hidef movies
3. based on a +3600 AMD plus asus mobo with dvi
4. 17 inch 740N or 19 inch WS 940BW LCD
5. onboard gfx, sound and LAN
6. Would like to add a tv tuner card

Now i dont know much about the smaller cases, all i know about are the ATX and the microATX boards....do we have readily available cases smaller than that....

So can anyone help me build a cheap rig from things assembles from lammy, which does not consume much deskspace.... i am more interested in which cabby to take which fits the microATX mobo and built in speakers would be a definite plus..... it can either be horizontal or vertical..... no problems....

Choose a MicroATX cabby as you plan to...

Go to lammy and ask for HTPC cases

Though they tend to be a bit expensive compared to regular cases

Me & Saiyan had checked out a few such cabbies at the Zebronics showroom in Ritchie street, Chennai and they ranged for 2.5-5K without the PSU

This board should be around 6k including processor .. if we follow US price.. its intel rite .. we should have it there in India. you may check with Intel distributer .

I am planning for one of these for RnD .. lets see how cool I can make a PC.

I don't think you can get boards smaller than mATX in India.
The Antec Minuet is a good quality case for micro ATX boards with a 220W PSU(new ones have 300W). It costs around 3-4K. Problem is, you need a half height card+ half height bracket if your mobo does not have on board gfx or if you want a tv tuner to be installed in the case. You can try removing the bracket altogether on a low profile TV tuner card but it will be shaky.

how about USB TV tuner card ? are they good enough for it ? I think there are few available on market. get the mobo built in display as this pc wont be use for gaming.. built in is just nice for home user.

neo, get the Antec Minuet 300 - good HTPC case, and available for 3.5k. Comes with a stable and quiet 220W Antec power supply too.
