I am residing @ Chennai now. And I am using Airtel Broadband. I am re-locating to my hometown which is down south of Tamilnadu in a week. I thought that I can shift my connection, but Airtel says it ain't possible. Airtel provides BB connection in my town but I don't know why they can't in my place. I don't know who to choose. So, I am here to ask you guys...

When I check with BSNL (website) its look like charges are more when compared to Airtel. Now I am paying Rs. 750/- where my usage can be unlimited with bandwidth speed of 512kbps which I am enjoying for few weeks actually my speed was 256kbps. I gotta know that Airtel upgraded this for free.

But with BSNL apart from paying Rs. 750/- I have to pay rental for the modem, For which I need to pay deposit as well. I ain't paying anything for modem with Airtel. And bandwidth gonna be 256kbps with BSNL where as I am getting 512kbps with Airtel. What I am getting here extra? Nothing... Actually I am paying more here.

I registered online for new connection in BSNL website but no use. They ain't called me, its been two days. I think they are seeing josiyam (astrology) for making me a call regarding new connection  They ain't even care for new connection I wonder how they are gonna service their customer.

You guys please do suggest me who can I choose. I want a reliable service provider. My bread is based on what I am doing online. So connection should be good (or as good as Airtel).

I heard that Airtel pays BSNL for network which Airtel ain't owned them. Then how come Airtel who uses other network providers thing and charge lesser while BSNL who owns the same but charging higher.

I am looking forward to get suggestion/opinions from you guys.

Are you telling that Airtel has their service in the place you are moving to, yet they don't want to provide a connection? That is strange unless they have run out of ports.

Also, Airtel has their own network at most places, and so don't have to rely on BSNL for access lines, atleast in the cities they serve.

I mean they are providing BB in my town. Their feasibility study says that they can't get me a connection where I am gonna live. Perhaps I surprised when they said this. But I realized that even in Chennai they ain't providing BB every place. Now it sounds like nothing to surprise when they say they can't.

Striker,

I don't think reliance would say yes. When Airtel says no other private players would say no. I guess I have no other choice but BSNL. So sad...

Damn, if only these private players (esp. Airtel) realized how badly their services are required. Good luck with BSNL.

Can you please tell me how much US dollars is that? I am not from India but I would like to compare prices in India with those in my country. Thanks!

Hi,

When there is no broadband service( Airtel or Reliance) in your town, better take Wireless Broadband.

A lot of Wireless Broadband Service providers are available in Tamilnadu.

Speed of Wireless Broadband is good and consistent

Finally I chose BSNL and got the connection. It took two weeks to get the connection. oooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuffffffffff I am tired of this BSNL....

^^Ivan - USD 1 = INR 44.
