I have a system and an office lappy. I wanted to use them parallel. So bought a new router Belkin G series. I configured it and the net on desktop is working. When I switch on my lappy, Network is not being detected in it.

Wifi Model F5D7234-4
Lappy HP

I have the wifi installed in Lappy, as my office network is wifi. It is not detecting my home network.

Do I have to install any software? Some one please help me :(

try to run the new network wizard under network connections (select wireless), it must ask for new WPA (or WPK ) code & PIN (under the router) for first setup.else you can also try the setup via connecting the lap to the router by supplied red lan cable.

If you have intel wifi adapter in laptop , try Intel Proset utility. Easy to use as compared to Windows "setup a new n/w wizard".

Have you set up your router else install it using CD that came with the router.

My lappy detects the wifi and finally ends up at Limited or no connectivity.. what is the problem here?

Update : I was able to connect my lappy to network ( Sending and receiving packets of data is continuous), but internet is not working on lappy. Do I have to set up anything else now?

When you setup the WiFi network on your laptop do you give the IP address manually or it gets it from the router. If you set it manually then u need to put the gateway as the router's IP and put the ISP's DNS servers in the DNS server. If you get IP from the router's DHCP then you need to enter the ISP's DNS servers so that the DNS server IP's are passed along with the IP to the WiFi device. Hope this helps ya.

As of now its working fine.. everything is set. Airtel guy helped me out. The belkin router is displaying the Secure symbol (Lock) does it mean its secure? or any one can access my network?

if you are using a wpa or wpa2 with a secure key then it should be fine ... only people with that passkey can access the network...
