I am looking to upgrade an old d-link router i have due to its limited range. I want a router with a range of at least 60-70 feet indoors. I would not want to exceed 5k for the router, and i would also prefer not to overspend if I'm getting a router which meets my requirements for a lesser price. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

I'm thinking get another of the same model with the older one connected via ethernet to the new one and acting as an AP.

Have a look at this one- TP-LINK TL-WR941ND 300Mbps Wireless N Router - TP-LINK: Flipkart.com , it should most probably fulfill your needs. If at all in future you feel the need for more range, you can get custom antennas and replace them with detachable stock antennas.

PS: I can vouch for TP Link, not exactly this model, as overall.

I should have mentioned this earlier. I am looking for a dual band router which supports 5.0 GHz frequency. This is because i have a lot of cordless phones in my home running on 2.4 GHz frequency which interferes with the 2.4 GHz wi-fi signal.

chaztin You might want to sell the N16 to this chap.
ak56u Look at the ASUS N16.

Its a great offer, but again as mentioned above, it would not suit my requirements....

I was looking at Belkin N-600(Belkin N600 DB Dual Band Wireless Router (F9K1102zb) - Belkin: Flipkart.com). It is within my budget, supports dual band, and supports usb hard disk sharing. The only downside I see is that it doesn't have a detachable external antenna. Any reviews/suggestions regarding this? Or any better ideas?

5Ghz will give you a third less range than you are getting with your dir-600 as it is. You will get a faster link speed as there will be less interference provided the clients are closer situated.

My current router is d-link dir-600(150 mbps) which only has half the range of what require.
If you only get half with the existing then double up to get the full range.

I've suggested a solution that will work for half your budget and give you the range. Faster speed at 2.4Ghz with a better router is only provided your clients are MIMO at 2.4Ghz otherwise it will be the same speed as you get currently with your existing router.

Alternatively where is you present router situated within those 60-70 feet ?
If its in the middle then maybe you will get better coverage than presently. Is it possible to relocate the present router to see what the performance will be like. If this works then you may not need to get another router at all.

Its difficult to say more unless you explain what obstacles ie walls and how thick they are that lie within those 60-70 feet indoors. The locations where your clients will be whether they will be more or less fixed etc. And what are your client requirements ? is it just simple web browsing or more.
