Let me understand this. You are trying to make your Pen Drive similar to a bootable Floopy, so that you can boot into XP using the pen drive ?

download a kit from internet by the name : usb_prep (for running xp installation)

i use mini-xp (from hirens kit) installed using Grub4dos

USe wintoflash to setup ur image file on ur pen drive.

Set ur First boot device to HDD.

then in advanced BIOS features u will find an option

"HArd disk boot priority"

Go to that option, u will see all ur connected HDD's along wid a USB-HDD option.
that is ur USB PEn drive , MOVE IT TO #1

Save and Exit And Boot.

Tell me how it goes.. :)
