Help needed to Activate/Jailbreak OTB 1.1.2 Iphone

Hi All,
A friend of mine got a new iphone (1.1.2) and has given it to me to activate/jailbreak it.I was trying hard last night but was not able to do so.

I followed this guide

Everything works ok except for the WiFi part.I have a laptop with wifi on Vista at my place.I tried setting up a adhoc connection and then share the Internet Connection.The iphone is even able to connect to my wifi network but cannot access internet.The moment I enable ICS in vista,I am not able to access any site,neither on my laptop nor on iphone.However,google works correctly on both the devices.

My question is can anyone help me setup Wifi with ICS on vista so that I can visit jailbreakme.com from the iphone ?
Or
Even better if there is a method to jailbreak without the need of wifi?
 
this is how u do it. i did one over the weekend. simple needs about 5 hours in total for everything i mean to include downloading itunes and firmware since 2 firmwares are needed to download. that is about 300 mb there itself
 
Nice... After all you did it.. Always follow Hakint0sh tut. other than anyone... they are great.. i unlocked the very new Old firmware iPhone with tut. from there..... i did it about 3 months ago...

That was great but weired experience :P but earned about Rs. 4000 also he he he
 
Jailbreaking -

Jailbreaking is the term we use to describe how we gain access to the root file system on the iPhone. Normally, we can only see a certain folder within this filesystem because of Apple's locking methods, called a chroot jail. This folder houses all the media stuff from iTunes, but not the juicy stuff, the iPhone's OS. Through several different methods which you needn't concern yourself with, we can "break" out of this little sandbox, allowing us to modify files and perform all these cool hacks.

Activation -

Yeah, so the list is out of order, what's it to ya? Okay, I'll try to stop with the attempted humor. Anyway, this is the first thing that you will ever do to your iPhone, whether you're intent on pledging your allegiance to AT&T, or you want to hacktivate. Before you activate, your iPhone is nothing but an expensive lifeline to 911, thanks to AT&T's stronghold on the iPhone. You can't do anything until you activate, but there are some fun things you can do in the mean time, namely with special phone codes, WGITL (Will get into later ) . I'd also like to note that activating your phone is not the same as unlocking it. The iphone is unique in the sense that it is completely reliant on this activation process. If you hacktivate your iPhone, it becomes an iPod touch with camera and bluetooth, only unlocking it will turn it back into an iPhone ;P.

Unlocking -

Yeah, you can do that. What? The Apple "Genius" told you unlocking makes baby jesus cry? Who cares, babies will always cry anyway. It's actually pretty simple, the program itself is available in Installer.app, though I think you need to add a repository WIGTL (if you're skipping around, that's Will get into later, and stop skipping around ). The process of unlocking allows your iPhone to use any GSM sim. Note the term "GSM", AKA, not verizon, sprint, alltel, nextel, etc. These carriers are CDMA or iDen, a different technology then the iPhone, they are never going to work, so don't even ask. Unlocking modifies the baseband (see below), a tricky preposition when it comes to FW updates. This gets into virginizing, something you don't even need to worry about if you're new on the scene, don't worry, i'll come back to this.
