Please help! i am going to buy within 2 days.:S

If it's strictly for downloading and stuff:

X2 4800 @ 3.5K try to get energy efficient version if possible. It's called X24850E

Asus M2A - VM @ 3K

Corsair or Kingston DDR2 2X1GB 800Mz @ 2K to 3K

Hard disk: 2X640GB WD @ 7.5K

Samsung 20X Sata DVD-RW @ 1.1K

CM ELITE 330+390W PSU combo @ 3.2K. If money is not an issue, get the CM cabinet and pair it with VX450W (around 3.8K) PSU from corsair. for 24X7 rig this is a better choice.

GFX card HD 3650 @ around 5K

A good 2.1 speaker set and headphones @ around 5K

Wireless keyboard+mouse combo @ around 1.5K

This will come to around 32K. Wait for others to pitch in and then finalize your stuff.

^^ Agree with above config.. But as he wants to watch TV and 720p movies.. I suggest the speakers would have been even more better.. :D

Processor AMD X2 - 4600 Rs.2700
MotherBoard Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H Rs.4500 (AMD 780G Based board)
If you do not plan to game in this PC, this board is capable of playing 720p and 1080p, you dont have to buy a graphics card.

+1... The Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H is a perfect mobo for HTPC. low power consumption, filled with features to the brim & native 1080p capable..

It even has HDMI built in... :hap2:

If you can find then get AMD X2 4850e ... Its an energy efficient cpu (45W TDP 2.5Ghz) with very low power consumption on idle.. perfect for 24x7 downloading & enough juice for an HTPC setup.... :eek:hyeah:

If you cannot get it locally then get it from KMD.....

^ Nice Racy....repped.

OP i would suggets you buy a second hand/new small size hdd like 80 GB or 160GB or so and alwyas download to that hdd then transfer it onto the main 640GB hdd. reason being: If you download onto the main 640GBWD hdd it bound to die faster due to 24x7 downloads...

or if u plan to download directly to the main hdd due to 32MB cache then look for seagate ST3500320SVSeagate Technology - SV35.3 Series? SATA 500-GB Hard Drive
it is specially built for 24x7 video surveillance, has 32MB cache..
n the hdd is cheaper than ST3500320AS coz of just a lil slow performance that than this 1 (AccessTime 18ms opposed to 12ms of ST..320AS)
bt that shudnt be any prob for an HTPC

couple it with WD 640AAKS as ur secondary storage n ur hdds will also be cool n quiet for long :)
