Laptops Help needed with Linpus Linux

Got an acer emachine netbook which has linpus linux preloaded on it. I want to install VLC, music player, adobe reader etc...the normal windows utilities.... I agree that a netbook is meant only for surfing but would like to have control over what should be there on the system and what should not...

Could someone please help me out with the process to go about installing stuff on Linpus or give me a guide to install windows on the netbook and make it a double boot.

^^ If you are not that comfortable with linux, you should install ubuntu. It is very user friendly and has ubuntu software center from where you can install anything with single click!
