71-90K Help needed with PC upgrades for a video editor best bud of mine.

Good evening everyone, this is my first post here so I sincerely apologize if there's anything wrong with the way I am presenting/formatting this information. I am usually the tech purchase advisor for all of my friends but I am absolutely humbled by the sheer amount of knowledge people have here on this forum, so please help me out if possible.

His Current Specs - (all bought in 2019 with the exception of the Samsung SSD that was picked up for 4.5k in amazon sale roughly 1.5 years ago)
CPU - Ryzen 5 3600
RAM - Adata 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000Mhz
MOBO - MSI B450M PRO M2 MAX (compatible with all Ryzen 5000 processors according to MSI website, I updated his computer recently to the most updated BIOS)
GPU - Inno3D GTX 1650 4GB
PSU - Corsair VS550
Storage - Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB, Adata SU650 240GB, 1TB WD Blue HDD
Monitor - LG 25UM58-P 75 Hertz 25 inch 2560x1080 Ultrawide
Case - Corsair Carbide Spec 01 Red

Updated Component List Requirements and Preferences :
  • MOBO, and all Storage drives will be used in the newer build. Everything else will be switched to newer parts.
  • Native 1440p High Preset Gaming (with Ray Tracing turned off/disabled) on new titles with preferably no drops below 60fps (without upscaling, without frame gen) for at least 2 years from date of purchasing parts, only NVIDIA GPU preferred because he is a video editor and works with GoPro 4K and 5.3K Footage on Premiere Pro and Davinci Resolve. Also uses a lot of Photoshop and Blender. so no AMD GPUs because he has heard nightmare stories of AMD GPUs being terrible with productivity software.
  • New Cabinet with at least 2 intake fans + 1 exhaust fan + magnetic mesh on top + tempered glass. No RGB lighting requirement, single color LED is fine, just gotta make sure case is of good build quality and has good airflow and good cable management.
Budget Allocation with upgrade requirements :
  • 80k budget for the new parts inside the cabinet, minimum 8 core/16 thread Ryzen 5000 series processor, 32gb ddr4 dual channel, minimum 850W PSU, new cabinet, and rest of 80k budget allocated to GPU.
  • 20k budget for new monitor, 1440p with minimum 120Hz refresh rate, should support FreeSync for Nvidia GPUs or G-Sync, but G-Sync probably not possible in this budget.
  • 5k budget for new Keyboard+Mouse. Both wired, not wireless. No preference for mouse, entry level gaming mouse are fine. For keyboard, full size 104 key with no linear switches (absolutely no red switches), either brown or blue switches is fine, but 100% size 104 key layout and any non-linear/tactile switch, with decent backlight visibility for typing in the dark is preffered.
My personal thoughts/suggestions :
  • CPU - ryzen 7 5700x- 12.5k
  • RAM - Kingston 3200Mhz CL16 32GB (16GB x 2) - 5.2k
  • PSU - deepcool PM850D - 7.3k
  • CASE - msi mag forge 320r mid tower- 4.9k
  • GPU - 50.1k budget for NVIDIA GPU left after adding up the parts above, so RTX 4070/4070 super/5070 if it fits into the budget. can stretch extra 5-10k for NVIDIA GPU.
  • MONITOR- Samsung LS27DG502EWXXL 1440p 27 inch 180Hz IPS, supports FreeSync for NVIDIA through displayport
  • KB/M- i was thinking about spending Rs 999-1199 for Deathadder Essential and spend the rest 3.8k-4k for the mechanical keyboard. 104 key/100% layout. Blue/brown/tactile switch preferred but i have no knowledge on the matter.
Thoughts, please respond if you have any better suggestions for the mentioned budget and prices.
 
Some nicely detailed thread. Fresh breath from all the two sentence threads we have been seeing for some time now. (no offense to anyone, I'm exaggerating a bit here lol)

Back to topic, the main usage will be for video editing with gaming on the side right? I'm thinking the build should be focused towards having large amount of RAM, GPU with high VRAM capacity (hard for Nvidia unless you get high tier card) and a high core-count focused processor (so NO X3D or low core count processors). I don't have much experience with requirements for video editing PC but this is the general gist of it.

My suggestions:
Skip on getting a new case unless absolutely necessary. It's one place where you can save some money without having impact on performance. (I also don't like recommending cases so rather not discuss about them)
Increase RAM to 64GB (will need to buy 2x sticks of 32GB DDR4 RAM since the monitor only has 2 slots) = 9.5k INR
PSU is fine (although on older ATX 2.XX standard), a slightly better option would be MSI MAG A850GL.
Get a 4k Monitor if your friend plans to video edit on 4k resolution, this will nicely match with 64GB RAM and high VRAM GPU. It will be hard to get a good IPS 4k monitor that can game too so I'm thinking your friend can try for a dual monitor setup (downside being the extra space requirements and budget) - Stick with the samsung monitor you chose if editing below 4k videos.
Deathadder essential is good for the price money and for keyboard it was tough to find a 100% keyboard for your budget, best I could come up with was a kreo hive 96% . Just get whatever you like, it's all mostly preference. I like brown switches because you get the best of both worlds.
Spend the rest on getting a GPU with highest VRAM size. I can't decide whether I should recommend 5060ti 16GB or go with lower VRAM GPU like 4070/super/5070 12GB. Considering the remaining budget will be tight probably 5060 ti for 45.5k.

Thanks for responding, actually the new case is non negotiable because his old case literally doesn't even have a mesh on top and no exhaust fan so he uses a cloth to cover it on top from dust and apparently its messing with the aesthetics of his man cave xDDDDD he suggested ant esports 511mt but idk about the build quality of that one that's why i decided to stick to reputed brands as far as case build quality goes and not spend more than 5k out of the 80k on it.

Also. I forgot to mention this, but he has a 4K 60Hz TV that is quite color accurate according to him. He wanted to at least get his foot into some high refresh rate gaming, so i suggested 2k 144hz ips over 4k 60hz ips for the 20k monitor budget.

You are absolutely correct about the X3D CPUs not giving any particular boost in non gaming scenarios which is why i avoided them. I was wishing a 12 core 5900x or something would go on sale but no luck.

Are there any youtube comparisons regarding 12gb vram vs 16gb vram, and 32gb ram vs 64gb ram for video editing. I thought more RAM and VRAM would help for AI/ML workloads but for video editing i was thinking 12gb vram is enough and 32gb ram is enough, as he wanted the PC to be balanced in all aspects, good at gaming and good at video editing too. Because in 2019 we went ahead with ryzen 3600+ gtx 1650 instead of something like ryzen 3500+ gtx 1660 because he put a higher emphasis on video editing, so now he cant even play 1080p low settings 30fps constantly, therefore he said he doesn't want to make that mistake again. Maybe a balanced build will be better, since clearly 4070 super and 5070 are far superior than 5060 Ti despite lack of VRAM.

  • i have noted A850GL as a superior alternative to the PM850D.
  • I am also open to other suggestions than the kreo hive 96% for 96%/100%/104key layout keyboards with blue/brown/non-linear/tactile switches upto 4k-4.5k.
  • And any other case suggestions under 5k. so far- ant esports 511MT, msi mag forge 320r (idk these two are my suggestions and could be trash, please drop your suggestions) (single color LED is fine, more importance on build quality, airflow and cable management.)
