Off late many of the dvd's i tried to write failed .

i had the following setup .
1 400 watt Powersafe PSu
3 HDD ( 80G PATA Samsung , 160G Seagate SATA , 200G PATA Seagate)
1 6600GT AGP
1 Lite On LDW 411S
ASUS K8S MX mobo
2800+ A64 CPU
2 fans .

I use Primarily ImgBurn 2.0 to build and burn DVd disks .

I never had a problem till 2 months back every dvd i tried to burn the solid red light while burning would turn orange and the burning would fail . or it wouldnt verify if it finished burning .

the dvd drive however reads without any issues .

then after lots of frustration i went ahead and bought a LG H10N and the 1 st day it self it started failing burning with a tracking servo error .

the drive again reads dvd's without any issue .

i feel a this point it could be a power supply issue

the question is ...

is the 400 watt PSU i have enough to support all the hardware i have in my system ?

1)Ensure that you use orignal and good quality DVDs at lowest/low speeds.

2)Try Nero.

3)Try the DVD RW on another PC.

4)If it works elsewhere, see whether it was connected properly in your PC or not.

5)Yes, try another power supply which is more powerful.

i have tried 3 different brands .. moserbaer , unique , eurovision (rw) and emery .

Moserbaer and emery showed up as fujifilm . unique as MBI and eurovision as Philips .

i have also tried Nero as well with same effects .

i do not have access to a more powerful PSU ... But is 400 Watt not enough . if not what do i need to lose from my system to make it under proper load since the next best PSU comes at 3800 which is a coolermaster 600 W psu is what i can afford after lets say 2 months . but something till then ?

The kind of load you have is definitely going to overload the PSU unless you have a good quality 400 PSU. But I wonder whether the IDE cable could be at fault here.

i have a powersafe PSU which seems to be a known brand .

i also have ran the system under this load with no issues although i am not entirely sure since i seem to have problems eversince i upgraded to a 6600Gt which requires a power attachment from a FX5200 which dosent require any .
But in contrast i have also tried burning a dvd with just 1 hdd and the rest two drives disconnected . This should have affected and should have allowed me to burn sucessfully ideally as far as i think .

About a bad cable , i have also tried replacing that to no sucess . and the error messages that i get point to

1) bad media
2) power supply
3) drive

i really dont how to proceed now . since
1) i have tried different media
2) removed two drives , changed connectors , also this does not seem to be affecting other HW in the system ie GPu , HDD etc .
3) drive has been replaced with a new one .

Have you overclocked ur PC
i remember having read somewhere that cd burning or for that matter dvd burning was dependent on fsb. atm son't have time to search for tit so please check yourself
