hi guys,

this morning, when i started my pc, i was able to login to igate using the cyberoam client. the strange issue that i am facing is that i am unable to ping the gateway using cmd, nor can i ping my own ip using cmd, but i am able to ping both using the cyberoam client. i am not using any firewall at the moment and jus using symantec antivirus corp edition ver 10.1.4.4010.

i hope some1 has some explamation for this, is any of the security patches released by ms yesterday responsible for this?

anyways ppl, i dont think i need any help on this topic coz i figured it out and it was the network diagnomistic tool which was causing the issue, anyways, uninstalled the patch & removed the files and registry, issue solved.

ok

can you ping localhost .

try bringing up your system in safe mode with networking and then try this will duisable any firewall , or sw entry blocking your ip .

@SharekhaN,

thanks for replying, i have managed to resolve the issue. there is a network diagnomistic tool for win xp released by microsoft which somehow got installed in windows update which was causing the issue. i have currently uninstalled the tool and yea when the tool was there i was unable to ping my own ip as well. i dont use windows firewall, but use symantec client security, where there was no rule created for the tool.

anyways, request the mods to close the thread at the moment as i dont need any help on this issue.

guys the abuse wassnt intended but was simply frustration as i was unable to understand as to whats going on coz i was able to use the net but unable to figure out the issue.
