Hello, I am trying to connect my triband connection to my lappy(dell studio xps using lan cable).
I am using the bridge connection. Problem is whatever settings i have used on pc(XP home is working perfectly fine) but i am not able to connect to the net when i use the same setting for my lappy. I get invalid username and password despite all being same. changed the ip and dns address.
please can anyone help me on this one...
Thanks.

Using Bridge mode, you can't have internet running on PC and Laptop as same time.

Solution:

Switch to PPPoE aka Always ON mode:)

bridge is for a dedicated machine.. pppoe will do the trick.

but ofcource, if you switch to pppoe you torrent download speed will drop drastically on public download sites...

I am using net only for one dedicated machine at a time. Unfortunately i am unable to use PPPoe connection as my net just refuses to connect.

Well, Error 691 in BSNL mostly comes only in two cases:

1) If you are already connected and try to connect to same account via different machine

2) Wrong Username/Password: check that

try to configure the modem itself instead of the machines. Put authentication and dns details in the modem page...login to modem and do all this.

problem sorted out. I called up the MTNL CC(was astonished to find out that its pretty good) and they accordingly guided me.

Seems like they performed some setting on their side. Thanks for the efforts :-)
