Help ! NFS : MW

Just installed NFS : MW Black Edition and the game starts, I can hear the intro sounds and that gal talking, but full black screen (no pun intended) :(

Please help !

I'm on 81.95, DX9.0C updated and everything seems OK, reinstalled card drivers, but to no avail...

HELP !!
 
try renaming the following files in the \Need for Speed Most Wanted\MOVIES folder :

attract_movie_english_ntsc.vp6

ealogo_english_ntsc.vp6

psa_english_ntsc.vp6

This just disbles the intro videos, just to check if THAT is causing the problem.

Also try temporarily undoing any forced refresh rates you may have applied via the nvidia control panel or a software like 'reforce'
 
ok, try one by one

1. if you have any usb game pads connected take them out.

2. disable your sound card, see if that helps.

3. download the latest patch, 1.3 i think.

4. the latest nvidia drivers are 81.98 click here

does the game crash to desktop(ctd), after the black screen.

we are assuming you are not using any virtual drive to play the game.

OK i understand that you have a prob with the game and that you are really frustrated.... but 'that girl'... show some respect.. she is not just any girl.. she is Josie Maran.

@ anish how abt trying it another PC or may be since its the black edition the screen looks black:P
 
^^ :@.. and Renegade, I don't understand your affinity to her...

Anyways, it is running on a virtual drive and not its not a CTD, its just the game running without display, Sounds are still on (Demo, Intro, Game Music, etc.)

You will not undestand Renegade until you see the intro part of NFS MW.

And why is it that only you have all sorts of probs with games. Fifa 06, BF2, NFS, etc.....
 
Yeah exactly ! And I even reinstalled Windows because of the same reason...

Is my computer cursed not to play games or something ? Huh, Black Magic :ashamed:
 
It happens to me some times,im on a ATi 9600 and sometimes the game starts with a literal blank screen.Usually the problem goes away after restarting the game.

PS:Sorry for hijacking the thread but i hav a problem with my comp,when im in NFS:MW,the game just stutters on for a couple of minutes and i hav to ALT-TAB to the desktop and back again to set the stuttering right...this happens almost in evry game.

Anyways, Anish, it might be a resolution problem, if you can hear "THAT GAL" Josie Maran! talking...

Try updating to the latest Patch.

2. Ran Driver Cleaner and upgraded to 81.98 WHQL

3. Ran Driver Cleaner and upgraded Sounds Card Drivers

4. Will play "Frisbee" with the DVD for some time
 
just thought of this. MAybe some video codec pack is intefering with the EA codecs? Just try uninstalling any you have.
