Help on recording from cassette to CD

Hi!

My dad has a truck load of *old* dying cassettes which he wants to preserve. I'd like to help him out by writing it into CDs. The only way I figured was to connect a jack from the tape recorder's head phone outlet to my PC's mic input and record it via a software.

Is this feasible? If so, can anybody point me to a software which is capable of such a recording?

Not the mic input, but the line-in input.

Try Audacity, it is freeware and simple to use.

Read my first post.
After you get the mp3 format you can burn them as audio cd using windows media player.
