I just got a p5b vanilla mobo with an e6400 and 2 gb of 667mhz kingston value ram .
I upgraded the bios to the latest version and my clock speed is being shown as 1600 only coz its running at 6x multiplier instead of 8 and ram is running at a divider of 4:5.how do i avoid this.
it shud run at 2.13 but is running at 1.6

you dont need to worry.

its the speedstep technology thats the cause of this.

Under no load condition the processor clocks itself down by lowering multiplier to 6. This keeps the processor cool when its not under load.

Under load it will swing back to its original speed.

You can disable it from bios.

Disable C1E and vanderpool in bios.

But dont bother if you are not going to oc as it does reduce temps by quiet a bit.
