I just bought a new Q8200. Its on the abit ip35-e with TRUE 120 and silent scythe fan. Its running at 2.38ghz with 35 degrees. Is this normal?

It was running at 40 originally and I re spread the thermal paste which I realised had all spread to the outer area of the processor. Now its at 34-35. From what I've heard it should be around 30 degrees idle :(

I can't figure out whats wrong.

35'c is pretty ok.yup around 30 would be great but still 35' is not n issue.

I am running on Phenom X4 65nm proccy which runs at 22-26'C and E8500 around 30'C :)

not sure what i understood from the post is right. . . Only minimum application of paste is required. . . No need of a thick layer.

35 is absolutely normal, and surprisingly good for a Quad core, but i dont think Q8200 is a good overclocker, but if clubbed with a good mobo it might do some justice.

It again depends how cool is the ambience to get it lower than 35c.

just my 2 cents.

I feel that discussion about the CPU temperature without mentioning the ambient temp is meaningless.
