Help regarding Dell Service

hi frends
my frend bought a dell xcd 35 from new delhi
now he is in orissa.

his phone is giving problems in touch screen

Now the problem is he has misplaced the bill, he has the box and every other thing.

i just want to know how does Dell provide service?
Is bill very essential or can we call dell and show the box and service tag to get warranty

The service tag details on dell site shows that phone was shipped on Dec 2010 and nothing else, it says no warranty contract on this system!!
please help us out

i dont think you need bill, service tag is enough,they dont repair anything, will just give you a new phone :)

And how much time do they usually take in case of replacement!!
 
I have updated my xcd35 to froyo in dell service trivandrum.

They said bill is required for it and taken a photocopy of the bill.

You can try using photoshop to edit the bill of any other product u bought from any e comerce site,like letsbuy and produce it with the phone.

The bill available from letsbuy don't have IMEI number etc.

So the dell guys cant verify the genuineness of bill :)
 
^^ we were not asked any bill or box etc when i went with my friend to get his XCD35 updated to froyo,This was in bangalore.
 
Service tag speaks more than bill

if you have a bill but no service tag = no service

If you have a service tag but no bill = you get service
 
Did the touchscreen stop working? Dell generally doesnt ask for the bill.

My friend has a touchscreen problem too and Dell hasnt replaced/repaired it yet. Its been more than 3 weeks since contacting Dell about it. Really crappy service.
 
They are giving replacement warranty, so no service in the dell service center.

If the phone have some hardware fault, then they will replace it with a replacement/new handset :D

did you purchase your friend from dell? :P

can you elaborate more about why have they not replaced the unit? Do they have any updates/reasons?
They wont repair it since they give complete replacement imo. Try to push and get the next better model.
