Help required apple TV + Denon amplifier (X1700) + Epson projector(TW7100) HDMI problem

I have a peculiar problem with my home theatre.
It has apple TV + Denon amplifier (X1700) + Epson projector(TW7100).
It was working well until recently.
4k HDMI cable or 8K HDMI cable does not work but a 2014 old HDMI cable is working.
Following is the scenario:
Apple TV direct to projector with 4K cable - working
Apple TV to Amplifier to projector with 4K cable - not working
Apple tv to amplifier to projector with ordinary 2014 HDMI cable - working
Apple TV to Amplifier to LG 4K monitor - working.
I am not able to decide which HDMI port is at fault to send for service.
 
It sounds to me like a signal compatibility issue between the Denon amplifier and the newer HDMI cables. Maybe due to strict timing or shielding in the high speed cables. Also the ports could be faulty, but the amplifier may have issues with certain cables.
You may want to try a certified Ultra High Speed HDMI cable less than 2 meters long for best compatibility.
 
Could you define "not working"? No display at all? Or something else?

Most likely though, this is a cable issue. For scenario #2 and #3, is the resolution same or does using older cable also reduce the resolution to 1080p?

It was working well for over 14 months with a 8k cable. The problem started a week ago

not working = no display. Projector is not detecting the cable. Older cable is showing the display but could not verify if it is dropping the resolution. Anyway the projector is not a native 4k display but upscales to 4k
 
Can you set the target resolution of the source manually to 1080p and check? Are you also using the same set of cables to connect the 4k monitor? Is that getting a 4k input?
If the monitor is getting a 4k input with the same set of cables then most likely the problem is with the projector. Typically these have 2 HDMI inputs, so you could try connecting to the second one to see if that works as well.

It's the cable. But, I am not sure if a better cable is going to help you with Apple TV (4K, I am assuming). Apple TV 4K sends a signal in very high bandwidth which makes a lot of cables struggle especially when an AVR is involved in the middle. It was one of the reasons I stopped using Apple TV. Try a different source other than apple TV. Most likely your problem will be solved. I don't think there is a problem with any of your HDMI ports.

Agree, you need to use high quality cable with apple device, there is a video explaining difference between cheap usb c cable vs apple usb c cable for display and thats crazy how many other component they put into cable for signal processing.

I will try to set it manually and check. The same set of cables was used to connect to the monitor and it works at 4k. I tried both the HDMI inputs in the projector but no success

Yes I will try a different source and try.
