hi guys,

Is there is any way i can use my pen drive as hard drive and save my xp/windows 7 operating system into it.

I have used win2flash software which helped me copy the windows xp cd files to my usb pen drive but This is not what i want to achieve .

I want to copy the entire hard drive to my 8 gb pendrive and boot from the flash drive .

Will it impact the performance of the machine.

Why no one is replying to this thread .Is my question too dump?

any body doing it as the process seems to be very lengthy and confusing to a novice user like me?
Im not sure why anybody would do it even in the first place as the speeds would be pathetic, running your OC from a USB drive
I would receommend using VMware and then storing the Virtual Machine on the USB drive that way you can have it portable if that's what your main purpose might be!

I have read somewhere that speed is not that bad because of the fact that Pen drive has no movable part like hard drives do.

But the transfer speed is no where near. Write speed is even slower. Hence HDD is a lot faster.
