I recently bought a 16MB PS2 Memory card.

The problem i am facing is that some games detect the card, while some dont. Games like Harry Potter, Midnight club DUB etc. detect the card, while some like Black, Hitman etc. dont detect the card.

Is it necessary to format the card? If so, how is the card formatted. In the main settings, i can see a file called "system settings" in the memory card. Should i delete this file?

Deleteing system settings won't help at all.

Formatting may help. I too had this third party MMC for gamecube that would often mess up, but after one or two formats it hasn't given me a problem once.

I just checked, there's no way to format Ps2 memory card, I mistaked it for gamecube, sorry.

Though, you can still head on to the MMC browser, if there is some corrupted data (should have their own icons), delete them immediately and start over.

Apparently, some games like Re4 have been known to not detect third party cards...
