My transcend was in my pocket, and fell into the water in the morning. I dried it , and it works when plugged to PC, and when plugged to its charger, but its keys dont seem to be working/ and its not turning on.

HELP! :(

hmm. it turns on when connected to charger/usb . but not by iteslf , wont play anything, let me see what can be done about it :(

thanks

Sorry man that was all I could find on google.

Are you sure that the player is totally dry? I mean did you take it apart and then let it dry. Most of these folks took their players apart and let it dry for atleast 24 hours before even switching them on.

well in the panic i turned it on, because my mom bought it to me an said that she'd got it wet and wiped it dry. Only later did she say that it FELL into water. I left it to dry in sunlight , but i think the keys and/or battery is dead

something similar happened to my cellphone during the Mumbai floods..when i switched on ..all the keys were working incorrectly and some were not working at all ...

.and i immediately dried it with a cloth...

then after reaching home i opened it..(it was not in warranty and i did not want to spend 500-700 bucks at nokia care)..

so i just opened the slider\screen and everything and dissected the phone into 12-15 pieces ...

took my mom's hair dryer...and blowed some air over the phone parts..keeping safe distance and blower speed at 1.(do not blow very hot air at full power)

after drying them...put all the parts back..and turned on the phone...

VOILA !!! it started working perfectly ..

try this with your Mp3 player..if its not in warranty...it may work..

or just blow air using hair dryer without opening the player.

hope you find this helpful.

Well blow drying is recommended but hot air can be disastrous.

Also the internal parts need to dry so I think the mp3 player if not in warranty should be opened up and then let to dry if not then water can lead to further damage. You never mentioned the nature of water - if corrosive like minute amounts of salts present in mud water etc. etc.

I would recommend let it dry naturally under the fan and not under sunlight.

Give it a few hours to dry up and then try.

i know all this guys. I've rescued it once from a watery grave. Please read the symptoms. I've dried it , and it works only when plugged to usb/charger. even they the keys dont work

^^Well, the only thing you can do in such a situation is to take it to the service center and try your luck......

Otherwise disassemble it and let it dry for about a day or two and then see if it works.

Good luck!

I had the very same T610 .. and I fell into the water one fine day..

With my T610 in my pocket intact! :P

I left it to dry ... Didn't even touch it for 24 hrs ..

And after 24 hours I switched it on, and it's good as new. No damage whatsoever.

I just posted here to let you know that the Transcend is freaking unbelievable! I guess if you'd waited a bit there wouldn't have been any damage at all!

Oh and btw, I also had a motofone F3 in the other pocket whence I fell.

I was fearing that the Tsonic would crap out and the fone would work, but well, it turned out to be quite the opposite! :P

That was the last day of my Motofone F3 :D

anyway, thanks for the help guys . My 610 didn't die in vain. I'm going to use my parents guilt for its death to get my car ICE'd :devil2:

After all, i do need my entertainment right ;)
