Help!! Rooting and Updating DEFY+ to CM10

Hi every1.. I am a proud defy+ owner. And I had never looked into the option of custom firmware or even rooting in that case. With my warranty expired, I am now very much interested in installing CM10 on my device. Though I had read the complete guide in XDA, I couldn't understand few things.

1. How to find the SBF, CG & bootloader version in my mobile?
2. If iam right, i should first root my device and then update to cm10. Right?? OR am i missing some pre-requisite steps before flashing custom ROM? Should i first backup my current ROM?? If so, how should i do it??
3. Please give me the steps in short for installing CM10 in my device??

2. You should first Root your device & then install CM10/7. Before Rooting backup your Call Logs, SMS. You'll find the app for this in Play Store.

3. Just Root your Device, Go to CW Recovery, Install CM10 from the file you've downloaded & placed in the SD Card.
